Dolmen frequency?

Calagari
Calagari
Is there a frequency or schedule for the dolmens?
Asking because I sat at one over 20 minutes with nothing happening.

Dolmen's open/close as fast as players finish them. Depending on zone/population you can sit at one for 20 seconds and it'll pop or 20 hours. It's a cycle.

Each Dolmen will only go up when the last one is down. They will not pop out of sequence.

If you're waiting at one for 20 minutes, that means that one of the other two is currently up and nobody's doing anything about it. The best thing to do if you're looking is to then find which one is up and go get that one.

Unless it's Cyrodiil in which case the situation is much worse.

I was only showing 2 of the 3 on my map but neither were in play. Maybe just a slow morning/

This, you can see on the map who dolmen and similar like harrowstorms and see who is active.
In some zones some dolmens are far from wayshrines making them less attractive but its faster to ride to the active one for say the FG daily.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

In that case it's likely it was the third that was up and nobody was doing it.

I always "discover" all Dolmens, Incursions, Harrowstorms etc on a map that way I can always see which is active. :)
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

Yeah best thing is to make sure they are discovered on your map. That way you will see a flashing notification of which dolmen in the zone is active...there is always one active (and only one at a time). When farming a zone you will notice the rotation and you can start to farm them very fast in order. The reason Alik'r desert is so popular for power leveling is because the dolmens there are close to the wayshrines and you can teleport to each one very fast in rotation

theres actually several zones where the dolmens are pretty close to wayshrines

deshaan is another zone where dolmens are pretty close proximity to wayshrines

With addons, you don't need to discover them, they'll jsut be black and active. Just make sure you aren't inside a city area,or else it won't track them in zone,so will look like nothing is happening.

It was Greenshade. I had to find the 3rd dolmen. I only had to wait a few minutes before it started, then I was able to return to the one I had not completed.
Was very glad when someone showed up to do the dolmen as it made completing it easier.
Rotations after that were pretty quick.

Greenshade is definitely a zone where the one dolmen can sit for a long time because it's such a pain to get to.

Glenumbra is bad for slow dolmen cycles, having two of the three at extreme north and south points on the map, both a good bit away from any wayshrines.
If it's a time when dolmens aren't in demand, it can take almost literally forever to cycle through the three.
They move pretty fast when dolmens are in demand (events, endeavors, etc. that call for them), though.

Auridon is another zone where they cycle-through fairly quick, like Alik'r and Deshaan, due to their close proximity to wayshrines.

If it's its turn in the cycle and nobody turns up then the dolmen will remain "live" but dormant until someone does.

As soon as someone arrives then the cultists appear and off you go:)

(Happened to me this afternoon doing the Fighter's Guild daily in Stormhaven - map showed one was active so I hurried across the map to get there only to find that there was nobody there and the cultists only appeared as I arrived).

I find the dolmens in Glenumbra fairly easy to get to.

The northernmost dolmen does require a bit of a journey, but after you've made the trip a few times you shouldn't have as much trouble, because (imo) figuring out the best route to a dolmen can be a big factor in how quickly you can get there.

The southernmost dolmen is pretty easy to get to if you go along the rockface that's not far from the Harborage, then climb down the cliff face near the end where the abandoned easel and painting are. Trying to go through Delyn's Mill is a mistake.

Untrue. While you can see the dolmen/storm/world event on your map, unless you have "discovered" them (gained the XP for having visited the area) you will not see whether they are active. This is easily tested if you have a character who has not yet visited a zone, or have a slot available to create a new character. Go to a zone that *character* has never visited before. Then open your map and wait.
