Undaunted should start in every faction

Me as being part of red faction had to go to Glenumbra to do the undaunted quest for unlocking undaunted dailies.Then I have to do spindleclutch before being able to progress with this quest. Again in daggerfall faction region.

I think as this is something new players will also unlock early on this questline should be available in every faction zone not to penalize those players who have not unlocked other zone wayshrines yet.

    It is available on every faction, if you are of Ebonheart Pact, you can get quest in Devon's Watch. If you are Aldmeri, you get quest in Auridon, if you are Daggers, you get quest in Glenumbra. Since you had to go to Glenumbra, you are a daggers.

    Yes, you can begin undaunted in any alliance. And the intro quest dungeon you get sent to - you don't have to do or complete the dungeon; all you have to do is enter it.

    Tangentially related, Bolgrul who assigns daily delve quests for the Undaunted has a stable of 15 delves - 5 in each alliance. Prior to Level 50, he will only assign you from among the five delves he uses within your alliance.

    Learn something new every day. Thanks for that tidbit.
    I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

    Mh. And why then did my red alliance character a letter sending him to talk to Mora at the inn in Glenumbra? And my Argonian Arcanist is definitely pact faction I just checked.

    And I just did talk to Mora in Glenumbra.

    You can join the undaunted at a much lower level, via talking to the representative at the tavern in Auridon / Stonefalls / Glenumbra. If you do so, you get sent to the beginner dungeon in that zone. I've only seen the level 45 letter for starting pledges on characters that had already joined, so it's possible the letter isn't set up the same way.

    This sounds like something got crossed in your wiring.

    This is the letter you get at 45. Don't ask why I still have one, I just do.
    m9wlabk165d7.png

    If you notice, the NPC is Maj Al-Ragath. Which if you look here:

    and here:

    and here:
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Maj_al-Ragath
    is not located in Glenumbra.

    Now, you're talking about the level 10 "One of the Undaunted" quest from Mighty Mordra, which is independent of that letter/quest. Which in my personal experience of over 40 characters across multiple accounts of doing that unlock quest is faction locked and specific, my Pact characters go to Stonefalls, Dominion go to Auridon and Covenant go to Glenumbra. Maybe you found a bug, but that's not how this system works.

    Yeah ok, could be.

    I usually ignore that letter until it suits me.

    Now as I wanted to start undaunted dailies with that toon I visited my alliance enclave and apart from Bolgrun I did not notice any quest markers. Then I remembered that I did not yet do the Modra quest and thought this is a prerequisite. This Modra quest took me to Glenumbra (so enemy faction to my toon). Did this quest. And returned to my alliance enclave where now I could talk to Maj with a quest marker.

    Sounds like a bug or ZOS recently changed something. I make alts all the time and Undaunted is always faction locked.

    Are you sure that it's faction locked? I'm pretty sure I took all of my new toons to the inn in Auridon to be able to start leveling the Undaunted through Bolgrul quests and then had to go to the Banished cells all the way North. I have toons in all alliances, but I do not even know where to start this quest in Daggerfall Covenant.

    I just took my new EP character to the Inn in Davon's Watch to get started. Then ported to Fungal Grotto, turned around to "go out the door" and was ported right back to the Inn and finished the quest.

    Maybe the invitation is dependent on what faction you are in when you hit 45?

    Just did some testing on live, something has changed and in a good/weird way.

    My EP character could pull the Undaunted Quest from Glenumbra, but in a bit of strangeness, just talking to Mordra and accepting the quest got me the Undaunted Skill Line and the ability to do dailies, I instantly abandoned the quest and went to Stormhaven to check on quests and boom, there it was at the enclave. Mind you this is a fresh level 10 I use to help people queue for random dungeons. She has the Undaunted Skill line at rank 1 now and never stepped foot into Spindle or any other dungeon.

    Not too long ago, maybe a few months at most I was forced to go to the designated faction home to get it.

    My best guess is that you started the level 10 Undaunted introduction quest ages ago, *in* Glenumbra, by actually talking to Mighty Mordra herself when you were in the inn for some other reason.

    It's not a quest that's automatically given you: it's one that is only started by talking to specific NPCs. Mighty Mordra is only in Glenumbra (she is an Orc, from the Covenant races), and she will send you specifically to Spindleclutch.

    For the Pact, it would be Kailstig the Axe (Nord, from the Pact races) in Davons Watch, down at the Fishy Stink, and he sends you to Fungal Grotto.

    For the Dominion, it would be Turuk Redclaws (Khajiit, from the Dominion races), in the Salted Wings, Vulkhel Guard. He sends you to the Banished Cells.

    If you were in the Pact and you even MET Mighty Mordra at all, you must have done so by actually walking to the Daggerfall tavern, and thus started her Covenant version of the quest, rather than your own faction's version.

    Whichever version you do, whether your own version or a wrong-faction version, unlocks the ability to use the Dungeon Finder and gives you the Undaunted Skill Line, and the ability to take Daily Delves from Bolgrul.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The second Undaunted unlock, at level 45 which unlocks Pledges and signs the Tome of the Undaunted, is given by a scroll which is given to you when you level up. The quest arrow here will point you towards the major Undaunted enclave in your OWN faction (Wayrest for Covenant, Elden Root for Dominion, Mournhold for Pact) - the full Undaunted base that is outside the city, rather than a group of drunken braggarts in a pub.
    We've never had to complete the dungeon to progress with the undaunted intro quest. You actually only have to enter the dungeon, then you can exit it immediately. As mentioned in the UESP page:
    To join the Undaunted, you must locate them in the city taverns. Unless you're already in your alliance's home city, you will be directed there. In Vulkhel Guard, Turuk Redclaws can be found upstairs in the Salted Wings Tavern. In the city of Daggerfall, Mighty Mordra can be found downstairs in The Rosy Lion. In Davon's Watch, Kailstig the Axe can be found sitting just inside The Fish Stink. Alternatively, each quest-giver can be encountered at the entrance to the respective dungeons, detailed below.
    The quest-giver will challenge you to prove yourself before allowing you to join the Undaunted. Although the quest implies that you need to clear the zone's group dungeon in order to become Undaunted, you actually just need to travel to the dungeon's entrance to finish this quest. After discovering The Banished Cells, Spindleclutch, or Fungal Grotto, return to the quest-giver at the tavern location and listen to the initiation chant to receive some gold and access to the Undaunted skill line.
    Note that for the Bolgrul delve quests and the fighter or mage guild dailies you can pick up and hand inn in any alliance locations.
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
    I'm not sure how it could have been different a month ago since I've been accepting this quest from Vulkel Guard an all toons for a long time (I might have done it from Davon's Watch on one toon, but that is it). And, as far as I remember, you do not need to actually go to the dungeon to unlock the skill line and Bolgrul dailies. You just need to accept the quest.
    Edit: changed "doing the quest" to "accepting this quest" since the forum decided to sensor "doing" in that sentence. Weird.
    I cannot 100% exclude it but I think the likelyhood that I took up this quest in daggerfall territory is very low. My character was created indeen long time ago but after release of Necrom and I just started to play this toon with Gold Road DLC release.
    But thank you and all the others who kindly replied.
    I am sorry if this came out as being a major complaint for me. It isn't. I was just a bit irritated and thought this is not how it should work. I thought I should communicate it and a ticket did not seem the appropriate way to do as I assumed that it was intentionally this way.
