Update 43: So that's it?

Last update had the release of the new zone, and the scribing system.

This update adds the Housing Tour addition so you can see peoples houses, and new class sets to Infinite Archive and a grand total of 35 furnishing plans, almost all of them Colovian.

Am I the only one feeling underwhelmed by this update? And by the Gold Road expansion in general? One smallish zone, and semi-okay, but admittedly very small spell scribing addition, aaaaaaaand nothing else?

Necrom, released just last year, added a new class, two new zones, and Apocrypha, Telvanni, and Necrom furnishings. Gold Road, released for the same price has about half that content. I just feel like we're being short changed here. Is there something else coming that's going to justify the cost of Gold Road? Or is this it?

ZOS also mentioned QoL updates in the 2024 road map, so it's not just adding more to the game.

No idea, but I just mentioned the road map, not the patch notes.

    here they are:
    Mount Preview Improvements
You can now preview a wider variety of mount behaviors including the mount up and rear up visuals, as well as the walk, run, and idle animations. No more guesswork or feeling like you need to search for a video.

Previewed behaviors replay periodically and include any special visuals.
This applies everywhere you can preview mounts including the Collections menu, Crown Store, and in-game merchants like the Impresario.
This one seems to be less quality than the next one.

Remember Last Selected Guild Store or Guild Bank
When talking to a banker and selecting Guild Bank or Guild Store, the menu will now default to the previously selected Guild Bank or Guild Store from your current session.

Presumably all the comments about how bad the default interface is, were read.
Presumably they looked at what could be fixed.
    This is it.

The quality of my life feels much different.
    Thank you.

they fixed a lot of broken stuff.
no change to drop rates that I noticed.

How many times can we go look at the same few dozen houses with the same giant furnishings and only 700 odd of them anyway. Seriously. So boring. I hopped around the houses of a new guild last night and my soul was screaming in moments. O look, the meadow. O now here we are in the meadow. Wait, the meadow? O great.

But making it easier faster better to select make store decon furnishings. There now, that would be great.

That's all. Especially funny seeing it after bragging about being one of the most successful MMOs out there, guess the main reason it's still getting money without doing much work themselves as TES IP works for itself which is indeed an achievement.

No you didn't. They scrapped the second set of dungeons per year so that they could supposedly focus on bug fixes and QoL updates in Q3 and since then have gone for the absolute lowest hanging fruit and stuff that people aren't asking for. They did it for the first "QoL" patch last year and they've done it again for this year's "QoL" patch.

Realistically this change to a Q3 "QoL" patch just seems to have been a way for them to deliver less overall each year whilst pretending that they're actually trying to make things better for the players.

The worst part is that I play ESO for housing.

Home Tours let most players down, including the hardcore housing enthusiasts.

Home Tours itself isn't a bad idea. It's nice that console players get to enjoy an addon's bare bones features. The voting/recommending aspect is awful and shouldn't go live, but the rest of Home Tours can stay.

But all that hype just for console players to get a fraction of an addon's features? :/

Home Tours should have been a footnote in some random patch. NOT the main event.

Increased item limit would have been Q3 QoL main feature worthy.
Or the ability to upgrade all outdoor homes to 700 slots. I feel like that is bare minimum, and it is STILL not in game yet. Why???

What I find funny is how it's advertised as the "most anticipated feature". It was only anticipated because we didn't know what it was, and that was fuelling a lot of energetic speculation. Now that we do, calling it anything other than underwhelming feels disingenuous at best.

We shouldn't be charged/penalized for ZOS fixing things they broke. My clients would fire me if I charged them for something that was my fault. Would you accept a 1/2 meal at a restaurant because the business had recently improved the stairs accessing the business? No, of course not. What next? Should we start sending tithes?

I think my point was that this isn't a fistful-of-QOL-changes as proudly boasted, but rather a post-release update of outstanding Jira bug item that missed the final release cutoff.
Like it or not, that is standard practice in the software industry.

My last job was 'final release' plus a list of manual workarounds that involved data dumps and XL pivot tables to make any use of the 'automation'. In restaurant terms: "make your own sauce".

Oh. Yes, my life is transformed.

As much as I hate to say this, as it is likely to be used as a suggestion, rather than taken as a critique, they could have rolled this update into the next one to create one normal sized update.

Yes, I made the mistake of assuming QOL was positive QOL.
