Since the gold road update launched we have had lots and lots of problems, whether it may be related to addons or even connectivity issues.
Logged in tonight and as you will see form the picture this is in West Weald at 18:30 U.K. Time.

The place is like a ghost town. This is Prime Time on a Saturday night
Was wondering how long it would take for this to happen, but it seems to have happened.
Not the first time i have seen this either.

Lots and lots of players have already left, mainly because they are not listening to what the players want.
Devs listening to the players=Thriving game and community.

This is the result that happens when they don't listen.
It is a shame that this is happening to eso, looking like it is on a downward trend, who knows the answer to that-even i don't know the answer.
But what i do know is Gold Road seems to have done more damage than good.Sad to say but true.

That’s not t all what I see in Skingrad, the Mirrormoor incursions are attended by lots of players, and I often see others when in the Scholarium. I’m not arguing that everything is fine, but I don’t think Gold Road is the problem.

If "lots" equals two or three, then you are definitely right.

You hardly ever see more than a handful of players at a world boss or at an incursion. You definietly will never see another of my characters at a world boss again ever and as soon as I'll be done with the mosaik skill thing, none of my characters will ever be found near an incursion again either. Both kinds of activities are incredibly annoying.

West Weld just isn't very attractive. Skingraad looks like dozens of other cities.

There isn't a lot of chests, troves and nodes if you are just wandering around. The bosses have annoying invulnerability stages.

Trees, it has lots of lovely trees. But after you've seen the trees there isn't much there there.

    Meh.

This is definitely one of the things i hate about it. They should've named it Gold Health Bar instead of Gold Road. XD

i see lots at Mirrormoor incursions as in a dozen or more.

you could be in a less full instance or you're playing at a time when there's simply less people

Yeah, before Necrom, there would be a ton of players at world bosses for a good couple of months after a release. I noticed that changed with Necrom and it has gotten worse with West Weald. The second week after Gold Road's release I'd have to wait at a WB and hope someone else would show up, or there'd be someone waiting there when I did, and usually there's only 2-3 of us fighting the boss.

And yeah, I only have 4 more dailies to go for the WB and incursion achievements and that'll be it for me. The bosses are way too annoying with immunity phases, and that one with the mushrooms is a total pain when using a controller. You have to dead stop in front of a mushroom and point at a very precise location to get the prompt to use it, which doesn't work half the time, and all this while a rotating AoE is happening. It's not challenging, it's frustrating because of the lousy targeting, and the prompt not working half the time because I moved my joystick 1 billionth of a millimeter to the left when I was pressing the buttons, which loses the targeting.

Other aspects of West Weald are well done and an improvement over the last two chapters, but the world bosses aren't fun at all.

Sorry to burst your bubble  ! But there are - at least from my POV - two reasons why there are less people.

The first one is, that we are now 30 days after the release of the new chapter. This means quite a few players have done nearly all they can and want to do in the new zone - for example the 30 daily quest achievements - and therefore are leaving it to do something else again.

The other (second) reason is, that - like without content releases (e.g. other chapters) - players are powering through the content as if there is no tomorrow. By doing this, they will reach a point where they will be burned out and can't take anymore of the new zone. Those players will leave the zone and do something else again, to get some diversion.

Btw., in addition to that I would like to mention two more things.

First. There are still quite a few players doing the daily quests and some more doing the mirrors.

Second. We are now entering the summer holiday season in the EU. During this time fewer people are playing  .

I totally disagree. Players love how West Weald world bosses and mirrormoor incursions use immunity phases to prolong fights.

Plus Scribing was a 10/10 feature! We love doing fetch quests in old zones and grinding dailies endlessly to use the new system.

My favorite part of the chapter was actually how they blocked off tons of extra doors in Skingrad and many other buildings to avoid confusion in our questing paths. I’m sure that’s why they did it. I hate when there’s extra content to explore.

The zone is 10/10 best chapter ever, and it’s so good that we don’t need any real new content until 2025 since this chapter was so high quality.

You did not mention if you are on a console or PC. If on PC, it's been a month since release. So, most people that wanted everything as soon as possible are already done with the zone and are tired of it. On the other hand, the Outcast inn still has a lot of visitors hungry for more furnishing plans.

Depending if you are on PC or console, there can be completely different explanations.

Your experience (if on PC) could simply be explained by the zone being instanced and you just happen to be in a nearly empty instance of the zone. This is something ZOS does for the new zones each chapter release and also something they do for existing zones that have events running (such as Craglorn recently for the Zenithar event that ended a few days ago) due to how laggy it can get if there are too many players in a single instance/part of a zone.

If you are on console, the explanation could be different, console populations have massively dwindled (long before this chapter) as many console players used the free Epic weekend last year to switch to PC. As such, console will always seem empty compared to PC as the already smaller player numbers continue to decline.

As for my experience on PC (EU) the zone is still very busy and I am seeing dozens of players (20+) still constantly farming the Mirrormor world events (dolmen) and that is during off peak times too (early morning EU time, which is when I play due to time zones). I'm also constantly seeing minimum 20-30 players in the town too.

It seems fine to me on Xbox.

My only big problem is that Ithelia was one and done. She had so much potential to be a long term story device. I just get sad when I adventure around West Weald now. I wish she could come back. 😢

Idk, I do WW dailies at rather unsociable hours most days (often between 6 and 8AM BST) and there are always a handful of people doing them too.

I haven't had to solo a single WB yet (which is good because 4 out of the 6 seem like they are going to be a proper slog to solo, in the same ballpark as Libram Cathedral or Deepreave Quag), even at these ungodly hours there are always one or two more players around, which is all that is needed really to substantially cut down the meh.

Incursions are even more lively, with at least another 5-7 players.

I'd say these are pretty OK numbers given the circumstances (summer holiday, unfriendly hours, trading in freefall, post-event 'burnout').

Regarding burnout though, I am myself still reeling from what they inflicted upon us during anniversary. Way to ensure I won't forget the momentous occasion.

This post made me giggle! :D

The 'god mode' invulnerability phases are just a lazy way of padding out a fight, and goodness me, it's BORING. Even more boring as they've made so many of the bosses do it. If it isn't god mode, it's jumping and disappearing while we burn down endless trash mobs! All designed to prolong a fight even with good DPS.

This is likely the last chapter I will buy, or if I do, it will be when it hits 'bargain bin' price.

Blizzard was like this for a long time, then they finally started listening again and now the game is thriving. You have to give people what they want, and ZOS has been doing the opposite lately, this is probably the first time I'm truly worried about the future of the game with the current direction. Look at Blizzard's Warbands, by making almost everything account-wide they show how they are respecting your time and money, here in ESO town the solution to problem like thus is you opening your wallet and giving them more money, that includes the majority of nice cosmetics, there's very little to earn.

The world is changing, economies are in ruin and ESO refuses to change, the amount of time and money I need in order to enjoy ESO nowadays is too high - hence why I am on a break, probably a long one.

I'm there occasionally to grab a survey or explore a bit. It will likely be fall before I do the quests there. I won't do anything in zone questing until the rush is over! I did start scribing on my mains - I don't really consider that a "Gold Road" zone quest though....

When you make a new character, you can only do so much in one zone. There's several tasks that take you into old zones to one degree or another.
    • Sky Shards
    • Mage Books
    • Crafting
    • Farming gear (generally: first overland, then dungeons, then trials)
    • Antiquities (a grind like no other, lol)
This is just to point out that there are a lot of activities that can't really be done in West Weald, or are best done somewhere else.
