Stealth Archive nerf?

Did I miss this somewhere, you can only take a mystery verse once per arc now instead of once per stage as it was? Was this intentional or even mentioned anywhere? I have only just been back into the archive since gold road dropped and found this out. The archive is long enough already so me and my buddy would always take an extra verse on bosses just to speed it up as much as we could. This may seem minor to some people but this will add a significant amount of time to my runs (which are already 5-8 hours a time) as we usually get to double figures in arcs every time. Anything else I should know?

Can someone explain how these are supposed to work? I received some as part of a quest reward (I think) when I managed to defeat the final enemy of Arc 1, but I'm afraid to use them because I don't know how they work.

You either add them to quickslots or use directly from inventory. Can use before you start stage or for example after you already started and realized marauder is coming.
It gives you random verse of type you costumed (offense/defense/utility).

They are very cheap at vendor in IA and also randomly drop in archive.

Thank you, but is it a one-time thing or a forever thing? I mean, if I consume one now, does that mean I need to use it now and might regret not having it later, if you see what I mean?

It should be once per cycle, but now it seems to be once per arc and it lasts only first stage. I.e. if you used it on first trash wave, you can't use it on second trash stage or cycle boss. So yes, you can regret it if you use it early.

But then again, buff is random and can be completely useless to you, like world skill damage when you have none. Occasionally it can even be harmful, like I rolled werewolf avatar on Arc 6 Thoat and it was significantly worse than my build.
