Excavation still bugged since 2020

I reported this bug first back in 2021 iirc, but nothing happened. Let's try again.

When I scry my leads, I ALWAYS unlock all 6 orbs in that minigame. Then I see ONE excavation area light up on my map for said lead. I go to the area and use the antiquity tool to locate the spot where the glowing mound of dirt is. And what happens next is a gamble: I get into the minigame OR the mound just poofs out of existence. Then I need to find its new spot, and yet again, gamble. I once had to find the mound EIGHT times until the game let me enter the digging minigame. I have absolutely zero idea what might be causing this, since it's a 50/50 chance of happening. Tried this with and without addons disabled, so it's not them.

The last time I posted about this on the forums, people were dismissive about it and kept saying "oh you didn't unlock all 6 orbs" but lol ok I sure as heck did unlock them! I wish I could show this in a video, but I don't have a recording program.

Anyway, please fix, it's been 4 years...

This happens to me very rarely, but it does happen.

But for the most part, when I unlock all 6 nodes, whatever mound I come across I am able to dig. I'd say for me, it is like 99.5% of the time this is the case.

I'm not sure what issue you're coming up against, but I hope you can find some resolution.

This never ever happened to me. Not even one time in hundreds and hundreds of antiquities dug out.

Try posting here a video of the whole process so we (and ZOS) can see exactly what is happening, and so confirm it's a bug that needs fixing.

I'd record a video if I could, but like I said, I don't have a program for it. I've dug up hundreds of antiquities, along with several mythics, cosmetics, furnishings, motifs and the Ebon wolf mount. And all this time, it's bugged for me half of the time. The bug not happening to someone else ever is not an indication of it not being a real bug, this game is coded in a way that allows for "personalized bugs" to happen, as I like to call them. For example, a friend of mine has been suffering from a bug from time to time where their game completely breaks apart, other players appear dead on the floor and slide around as corpses, and mobs rubberband around. They've also been trying to contact ZOS about their bug, but nothing has been done. I've seen this bug in action while they were streaming their game to me. And no, it's not because of crappy specs, their PC is completely capable of running the game.

I have a theory tho; back in 2020 when I was leveling the skill line, I'd get this thing where when I was unable to unlock all 6 orbs, I'd go to the remaining highlighted areas and there I could find mounds that upon interaction would count as another unlocked orb. Is this normal? I think this might be why it's glitched on my main character, but I have no idea.

If you are playing on Windows 10 or 11, you can use the built-in XBOX Game Bar to record videos (Windows + G to open it, Windows + Alt + R to start and stop recording). The recordings should end up in C:\Users\<your username>\Videos\Captures.

This does still happen to me, but it is maybe 1 out of 15 leads I dig up, and never more than once does the mound just disappear.

Never ever happened to me, and I'm sure I did a 4-digit count of leads.

However make sure, you put your skill points into antiquities, with enough skill points, there is only one possible spot to dig.
Aka "max you antiquities skill line".

I've had this happen to me once, but I just assumed it had something to do with the Lag that was so frequent a month or so ago. And I'm on PS NA so it's wasn't an Add-On issue.

Yes, that's normal. I have occasionally had the oddness of the mound poofing before I start to dig, but I'm guessing it's less than 1% of the time.

I have everything maxed out, so it's not that.

I used to start the dig with less than 6 whatevers unlocked because I did not have enough skill points to level up the skill line. I have since leveled up the skills to max and I have never had a mound disappear on me before, so I don’t think it’s caused by that.

I record using my Nvidea app, really easy to do......must be easy because I'm a Tech Idiot!!

I'm sure AMD must have a similar option?

I cannot actually remember a dig site going "poof" on me but for sure it might have happened!
