Why was there no Ancestral Wood Elf/Ancient Elf motif style added with Gold Road?

Finally beat the main questline tonight and I gotta say its puzzling that there was no ancestral wood elf style added with this years chapter? Considering this is the only time the Bosmer and Ayleids are gonna get some love with a DLC, it feels like this was a giant missed opportunity. Maybe they can be added as a West Weald Treasure Map reward in the Q3 Dungeon update?

Maybe they will add them later, I don't remember if the other ''Ancestral'' Motifs released at the same time their corresponding Chapter/DLC did or if it was a few months later.

Also, I'm not sure if there will be another Dungeon DLC this year, afaik it will be like last year and ZOS will skip both Q3 Dungeon DLC and Q4 Story DLC since I see no mention of them in the Roadmap.

If they do add it, it better not be through treasure maps. I've had enough of that RNG ridiculousness.

AFAIK the first 3 Ancestrals added were Nord, High Elf, and Orc. House Hexos is technichally ancestral imperial but still,

Theres room for ancestral dunmer, redguard, argonian and maybe khajiit but that stretch between northern and southern elsweyr isnt much to work with in terms of DLC

I don't think there was an Ancestral style added with Necrom, either, where Ancestral Dunmer would have made a good fit. All I can think is that the response to the existing Ancestral styles has been so overwhelmingly negative (more about difficulty/RNG of acquiring, than quality of motifs) that ZOS put them on hold.

Yeah, the last Ancestral was Breton in High Isle.

They've had odd releases for the Ancestrals. We got Nord, Orc, and Altmer when Greymoor dropped, Reach (Ancestral Barbaric) came with the Markarth DLC, and then things went weird. Akaviri (?) came with Blackwood, which makes exactly zero sense since there's not much that the Akaviri did in Black Marsh and that would have fit Ancestral Imperial better, but then Ancestral Imperial got a name change and came with the Deadlands (I suspect there was something else that should have been there, considering we've still got that unused motif #109). And Deadlands gave us Ancient Daedric. Ancestral Breton came with High Isle, even though we've seen it on NPCs since Markarth, but after that... nothing.

Granted, I don't miss having to farm treasure chests for those leads, but I do like having more motifs. The lack of an Ancestral Dunmer/Chimer in Necrom and an Ancestral Bosmer or Ayleid in Gold Road is sad. I'd like to have more motifs to farm.
...but with a reasonable drop rate, please.

Also sidenote: why is Shardborn dropping from Skingrad Delve/WB dailies and then presubably the as-yet-unannounced-and-probably-not-released-until-Q3-but-visible-currently-on-guards Skingrad Guard style should come from Mirromoors and the daily, when it'd make so much more sense the other way around?

I'm getting the feeling that the Ancestral Styles were a flight of fancy project meant to liven up the release of Antiquities, but eventually had its funding pulled because they're not a necessary addition.

Actually Wood Elves have like 1.5 maybe 2 motifs in the entire game, compared to other races like Nords or Bretons or even Dark Elves it's just insane, totally no love for Bosmer. But to be honest they were changed from savage-primal cannibals in the lore into "funny" hobbits in the game so no wonder...

Getting all 14 codex entries was among the worst, and most unnecessary, nightmares ZOS has ever implemented. I'd rather not even give them the slightest hint that they should bring that back. The absence of the motif is a small price to pay for the absence of that grind.

There's 3 I think-- Wood Elf, Stags of Z'en, and Oathsworn. I feel like there's more though, maybe I'm blanking or maybe I'm misremembering.

I wish that ZOS had continued with ancestral motifs! :( Both because I had been looking forward to more Elven motifs and, if any antiquity lead is going to be behind treasure chest RNG, motifs are the only ones that are okay because then people can keep or sell them. TREASURE CHESTS ARE THE ABSOLUTE WORST SOURCE FOR LEADS! I hate them! Sure, it can be tedious to farm a boss for a lead, but there are usually others there too, and I know what to do to eventually get the leads. But treasure chests? I can’t farm maps, they’re random. It makes me feel hopeless rather than excited to chase the leads that interest me most.

i would like to see more Ancestral motifs introduced, however, under any circumstances NOT from the Treasure Maps.
binding leads to the Treasure Maps is a horrible horrible design decision. :/

    edit: typo
(aslo to just note: i have got skin lead from Galen I map only after 54 maps. and i do not consider such a drop rate to bring any "fun". Also. placing leads behind SMALL zones maps (which have only two maps instead of six (yes, i am talking about Ancient Daedric motif leads and The Deadlands zone) is another serious design mistake, imho)) )

I think Recollection might be intended as the ancestral Bosmer, given the lore.

I agree that leads behind treasure maps are horrible, but motifs are the least bad to have behind them as there’s the option to buy/trade. But NO leads exclusively behind treasure maps would be even better. Necrom and Gold Road have made me absolutely abhor treasure maps. :disappointed:

    It’s so sad!

I just want an updated beautiful version of the older Dunmer and Bosmer styles, like Altmer nord orc etc got.

With tier 5 weapons! Bosmer blades and Dunmer staff.

But they seem to be not bothered to do this, because of all the focus on the story and related motifs.

They really should just add ancestral Dunmer/chimer to Necrom antiquities as a drop, and then Ancestral Bosmer to west Weald antiquities system

It’s more grind true, but better than not having them at all

Of COURSE they are necessary

    I disagree

Perhaps a new simpler faster method that still allows guild economy should be implemented for the remaining ancestral styles

But they should still be added

It’s pretty biased, unfair and disheartening that half the races have them, then they stop and the remaining races don’t have their base game styles updated. Wouldn’t you agree ZOS devs?

Well it’s not. Just like the beautiful Blessed Inheritor Style was NOT ancestral Dunmer/Chimer

The two styles are nice but not nearly the same or reflective of what the lore says those two races wear in the base game. We need THOSE styles, updated and redone

That’s a horrible trade-off! The motifs are in-game styles! The codex is some interesting flavor text, certainly a lesser reason to worry about acquiring them. Besides, how is completing the multiple codex entries for the Necrom and Gold Road antiquities locked behind treasure chest RNG any better? I have come to abhor treasure chests, but I would rather have motif leads locked behind them than have no more ancestral motifs at all. At least those I can buy from other players instead of having to deal with the repeated disappointment myself.

They've started calling them different things, like Ancient Daedric, House Hexos. Recollection is an ancestral version of the bosmer morif, but some pieces are clear updates of the bosmer motif and some are a different design.

i would love more ancestral motifs if they included all the Tiers of the base game motifs instead of just tier 4.

And if they were acquired by doing daily quests just like House Hexos (Ancestral imperial).

Ancestral Wood Elf isn't even really something i hope for because i only like jerkin 1 and jack 1/2 as they don't have tassets or loincloths which Recollection sadly does have.

Y'ffre's Fallen Wood is more similar to Wood
Elf, specifically heavy, and it is mostly beautiful except it also has tassets and loincloth like nearly every other style.
