Can’t you launder Research Portfolios? Or am I misremembering?

So you can launder Research Portfolios, but the implementation here is likewise problematic.
You launder them for 0 gold, but none of their contents are laundered.

But you cannot launder an entire event coffer that's "stolen." You can, however, launder their contents after you've removed everything from them. And since the cost of laundering an item is reflective of its value, and the total value of all the contents in an event coffer is going to vary a great deal from coffer to coffer, it is IMHO unreasonable to expect that you should be able to launder an unopened event coffer for a relative pittance when the total value of its contents far exceeds that amount.

ALL of what you are saying is refuted by the fact it is also applicable to the Azandar's portfolios, which are laundered for a much more significant pittance of exactly zero gold.
(They can sometimes contain pretty valuable items, too.)

Wrong. If you launder them BEFORE opening, the contents are laundered. If you open and take a look in, the contents get "stolen" tag locked in, and laundering the portfolio doesn't launder the contents.

Thanks for confirming that you can indeed launder the portfolio and yet not have the contents laundered too. The fact there’s a different behavior if you look in it as opposed to if you don’t makes this implementation even worse in terms clarity and consistency. And the fact that Portfolios seem to be much more the exception rather than the rule (in terms of being able to launder them at all, in terms of the zero value, in terms of it not clearing the contents’ stolen tag in some situations) makes me inclined to agree with the poster above that Portfolios are the ones bugged.
