We have enough ridiculous mounts in the game already, we don't need another impractical mount just because some players want to stand out from the crowd. The game already has too many lore-breaking mounts.

🤨 OP asked for a pet, not a mount. I know I grabbed a chicken with Endeavors a while back, so that I can eventually put a coop in the Embassy. A cow is not an unreasonable request.

just to note: today i have questioned two of Stream Team streamers if Indriks are milkable
(i think they are probably not, as they are half-reptile, but not absolutely sure about that).
One great streamer immediately responded "On, noah! Dino, forget this and don't return to that topic"
Another one said "no. and only you, Dino, could ask such a question!"
Why. i have nine different indriks mounts to be moored at my house stables. Isn't that an important question?
i might be missing building a cool cheese factory!

It doesn't have udders, but it's a cow because it doesn't have horns? That's reaching.

It's not a bull because the things that make it male are not there. That, along with no horns, show that it is not a bull. Does this make it a cow by elimination? I thought yes but now I'm not sure.

The game created this animal and they say it's a cow. That's good enough for me.

Why?? Why is an incorrect label enough but your own eyes and knowledge not? Why do you want this to be a cow so very much, when it's clearly not drawn to be one?

Is a bank not a bank when zos labels it a merchant? How would you manage in Riften?

You are thinking Earth centric. The game takes place in Tamriel where I can keep a tree in my backpack. Not a little tree either.

To the horns issue. Both male and female can have horns with male horns being thicker. Ranchers have developed breeds that do not have horns (neither male or female) for a variety of reasons. The cows in game seem to be more fashioned after breeds used for meat instead of breeds used for milk. A heifer is a female bovine that hasn't calved so I'm guessing we have a bunch of heifers running around.

A rose by any other name- a flower with the properties of a rose still has the properties of a rose whatever its name.

It's the missing properties of the cow we are debating. As it hasn't the properties of a cow, it isn't a cow whatever it's named.

You've got the logic of the quote the wrong way around.

And as Juliet says, the name isn't the thing, the name isn't the parts, It is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. OR COW.

I don't know what dimensions in space have to do with biology. And the presence of dragons or talking cats doesn't create cows where there are none. No cows and no calves, then no milk, no cheese. WHERE IS THE CHEESE COMING FROM. Must be imported.

This is a Tamriel cow which is different from an Earth cow. It may not have certain identifying features but that is for modesty's sake.

LOL! Only in the US is “modesty” imposed on animals!

I do agree that it’s meant to be a cow, the nameplate makes that much irrefutable if nothing else does.

As to cheese, apart from cows, we know for a fact that there is mammoth cheese in ESO, and cheese from goats and sheep are definite possibilities as well. :)

    What about camel cheese?

I didn't even realize you could turn camel milk into cheese. Actually, I didn't know that camels could be milked at all! TIL Apparently there's a brand of camel milk cheese in Mauritania that is similar to brie! I could see the Alik'r having some! Cool!
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camel_milk
Cheese from camel milk is more difficult to make than cheese from the milk of other dairy animals.[18] In camel-herding communities, camel milk cheeses use spontaneous fermentation or lactic fermentation to achieve a sour curd; in camel farming in Sudan, the Rashaida tribe use this method to store surplus milk in the rainy season, pulverising the dried curds and adding water for consumption in the dry season, and in Mongolia, camel milk is consumed as a product at various stages of the curd-making process.[citation needed] However, the milk does not coagulate easily and bovine rennet fails to coagulate the milk effectively.[19] Developing less wasteful uses of the milk, the FAO commissioned Professor J.P. Ramet of the École Nationale Supérieure d'Agronomie et des Industries Alimentaires (ENSAIA), who was able to produce curdling by the addition of calcium phosphate and vegetable rennet in the 1990s.[20] The cheese produced from this process has low levels of cholesterol and is easy to digest, even for the lactose intolerant.[21][22] The European-style cheese, marketed under the name Caravane, was created through collaboration between Mauritanian camel milk dairy Tiviski, the FAO, and Ramet. It is claimed to be the only camel milk cheese in the world.[23]/quote]

Whether cattle have horns or not is more to do with the breed. Some cows have horns and some bulls don’t have horns - it depends on the breed.
We definitely need cows in the game as non combat pets to make a farm with. And a mighty bull mount would be great!
Also sheep milk cheese is best IMO. :)

Nothing to do with Earth biology but Tamriel is not Earth. Seems no being on Tamriel has the parts to make little Tamrielians so we have to assume biology is different between the two worlds.
There is a giant that tries to hoard mammoth cheese. He has large containers full but isn't real attentive so anybody can just run up and take some. Might get oozy though on a warm summer day.

This is a game from the US, origin of Barbie and Ken dolls. What do you expect?

Well, rather that than recent tv productions unneccessarily penetrating your eyes and ears with primary and secondary gender characteristics and vulgar language. With the exception being the primary female characteristics, these are still a big taboo.

The legs of horses are still more disturbing than their gender neutrality. They look like a horse did unspeakable things to a rabbit. Actually not so prude, when you think of it.

I don't think it should be a pet, but it could be a nice houseguest set. A cow and some other farm creatures from across Tamriel?

I think that'd be good as a year-round Crown Store offering, since those could do with an update.
