Varkenel has been established as a creator of chimeras before (his earliest experiment and creation was the Vvardvark), but what purpose would that ugly thing serve? Why would Telvanni Archmagister Otheri want something like that? Was it a weird joke gone wrong ("Yeah yeah, come back when you've created a fire-spitting lizard camel...")?

These pseudo-lore explanations they give their ugliest crown store abominations are meaningless if they make no sense.

THIS is the one that sets you off? After years of WoW-esque crown crate mount abominations with flashy particle effects, glow-in-the-dark bodies and absurd chimeric properties ...?

This one at least is fairly subtle on the particle effects, and the first lizard-hybrid that won't end up giving me nightmares tonight. Actually ... it's ... kinda cute. In a disturbing way. Thou I wish we'ld finally get a toggle to remove particle effects on mounts. Quite a few that I own but never use because of that.

I like these because they're more fantastical than "brown and white horse" and less than "aether-blasted particle gryphon".

So they're like a sweetspot of plausible but non-everyday type of mount.

For example, it's not like constantly burning, but spits fire only when you hit space. It fits in more for me—fine if others don't like it.

That said, I would love more mounts like the Bandaari Pedlar mounts: regular animals with really unique culturally-specific decorations or style

Edit: Just saw it in in-game, it IS constantly on fire lol ... I'd prefer if it wasn't.

Mh, it IS constantly burning for me (wait, that sounds wrong XD), but it's subtle enough to not get on my nerves.

Other than that, I agree 100%. My favourite mount still is the Frostbane Horse. It's "just" a horse, but it's unique and beautiful and everything but boring.

I got the free mount, tried it once, then switched back to my usual mount. I'm just not interested in mounts with ridiculously excessive mounting animations.

The mix between camel and lizard confuses me, to be honest. In which environment should this animal be kept? What would be the ideal habitat? How much water does it need? If I get lost in the desert with this thing and decide to eat it, does it taste like camel or like lizard?

Well, there's a line from the first Croc Dundee movie that might apply: "You can eat it but it tastes like ****" - of a roasted goanna. Now camel.... my first in-laws had camel, and said it tasted like lean beef. They tried a LOT of flakey meats, either hunted themselves or (as with the camel) from a farming operation in Texas.
