PS5 My first Ink farm run

Gold Road released on Console today so I did my first farm run for Ink after doing the scribing quests.

1 hour of farming nodes gave me 9 Ink which is more then 1 every 10min and not bad in my opinion since its supposed to be rare material.

I tried to think of the most effective place to farm nodes fast and I think I found the right spot, harvesting around 50 nodes per 5 min then rince repeat.

I know tomorrow i might get 1 Ink but I might as well get 18 Ink.

Did a 1 hour farm run again today for Ink.

Got 5 Ink, same farm spot like yesterday, I harvest about 40-50 nodes per 5 min so around 500 nodes farmed for 5 Inks today.

I was at 1 main quest done, I think one delve cleared, then decided to get through the initial scribing so I could collect ink through the rest of the questing and map clearing. I made it through everything on the map yesterday and today, 100% cleared...Ended up with 5 ink.

I think I'll be heading back to other games until something interesting pops up again here.

So the weekly endeavor offered a convenient test. I completed the 100 nodes in about 40 minutes. One ink dropped making the rate 1%. I think I got lucky...

I also did a round of Necroms underways and got none.

I'm not interested in scribing and was planning on selling, but one ink won't yield much profit... Yeah the drop rates are not compatible with actually using the new system. I wonder what made them decide to stifle users' exploration of the new system.

Same farm spot, day 3, 1 hour farm and I got 7 Ink today.

So 21 Ink by farming 1 hour a day for 3 days ' 3 hours farm time all togheter '

I also checked prices in Mournhold, cheapest Ink are 50k then they go up rapidly.

I went for 3 1 hour runs on 3 separate days and got no ink. Now I just don't farm for it, and I'll wait for a few months until skinnycheeks tells me what scribing stuff I'm supposed to have for a magplar and stamarc build and call it a day.

I would complain about the drop rate, but ATM scribing is a curious and neato thing that basically amounts to cosmetic changes. ZOS did a good job of making the system balanced, which is a healthy thing for the game. However, there is nothing to really chase for, which means farming ink is a nice to have, not a must have, so I'm not going to do it, because the act of farming resource nodes is just plain not at all fun.

right now ive barely been avg 1 ink drop per day, from any source

monday i tried harvesting in starter zones, did 100 nodes for weekly and 0 ink

another day this week i spent another 40 min harvesting in a starter zone, with 0 ink (i actually got an aetherial dust during this session)

same day i also spent a combined 3.5 hours farming in public dungeons to finish collectibles, i finished the entire echo of the abolisher collectible from west weald, and got a few drops from another public dungeons, all in all, 1 ink dropped out of that

based on rough estimates, the drop rate of ink from harvesting nodes is about twice as rare as nirncrux

im on PC, and have had access to scribing for 2.5 weeks, i think ive gained about 27 ink in total, 12 of which was from the initial questline run, the other 15 is a mix from harvesting and drops from enemies, which is probably about 50/50 on sources

so ive been avg 1 ink per day since the system launched

I checked last night and PSNA ink is going for less than 40k each, not worth the effort to get 1 ink.

A node every 6 seconds, wow! Is there an achievement for that? Because that is something most players couldn't accomplish... It deserves some recognition. I think it takes me more than 6 seconds (on average) to just get between nodes.

I wonder what the drop rate is? Yesterday, I had to harvest 317 nodes before any ink dropped. My fastest drop was 31 nodes. I haven’t farmed much so I don’t have a big enough sample size to guess.

No there is no Achievement for fast farming that I know of.

I got none besides those granted as quest rewards.
None dropped from nodes, mobs or bosses.
Drop rate is ridiculous.

Ok I have no time to farm for an hour today, I just loged in to place trader bids then doing a few dailies in the new zone.

I put on trader about 30 Inks for sale in Mournhold for 42k Gold each but people put their Inks after that for 31k gold so I guess im not selling those lol

I recommend submitting a bug report. That’s what I’ve started doing. I have a hard time believing the drop rates we’re seeing are intended, because it’s beyond ridiculous. I’ve only gotten two ink since the end of the most recent ESO plus trial. Ink Accumulator achievement is currently at 37/50. Meanwhile, you’ve got people in these forums boasting about having “hundreds” of ink at this point and selling them for ridiculous amounts. Something isn’t adding up.

at this point im not even worried about it, ill just not really use the system, and build up ink as i can get it

after doing 1 week of normal gameplay without farming, 1 week with significant farming, and 1 week of mix, it didnt make any amount of difference whatsoever so im just going back to "normal gameplay" and basically ignoring the system until the situation improves

That’s fair. I still don’t think it would hurt to submit a bug report, though — something is obviously up, and it’s impeding your ability to use a system you paid for. It doesn’t make any sense why a small number of people braggi… er, posting here appear to be consistently lucky with this system, while the rest of us are struggling so much with it, no matter what we do to increase our chances of getting drops.

May I ask how you farm Ink?

By farming starter zones in speed running gear. In other words: stop implying that those of us who have been cursed with bad RNG don’t know what we’re doing. It’s insulting.

The one thing I do that is different is I rotate zones every 15-30 minutes. I don't know if it helps, but over time I have farmed a lot of ink.

I don't use speed gear, just wild Hunt.

that probably makes a big difference honestly, if i recall right its theorized that even something as changing zones can impact your random "seed" that you get when you load in

1 hour farm run today and I got 16 Ink.

First drop was after 1 min a few nodes a double drop.

Last night 2 hours farming, nodes every 7-8 seconds no ink, kuta. Three kuta, yes I hit a lot of nodes but no ink and yes I changed zones, no ink.

Something is broken and it's not my ability to farm nodes.

And yes after looking more closely at the types of scripts I might find useful I've decided maybe hours of time wasted hunting ink isn't really the best use of my game play.

Ok if people get no Ink from farming 2 hours and I just got 16 Ink from farming 1 hour Im running to the store to buy some lottery tickets lol.
