Possible refund for Gold Road?

Main reason I wanted to get Gold Road was the Black Onyx Color for my spammanble. It seems impossible to get it unless you spend countless of hours farming nodes. As I both study and work I don't have the time to spend all my free days just farming nodes. So it is possible to get a refund? As I thought buying the chapter would give me this color, would have been fine if it was easy to get but pretty much impossible for a casual gamer to get inks without spending countless of hours just pressing E around a map.

If it's just the ink, it's tradeable. About 70k at guild traders.

the achievement requires earning the ink, from quests or drops.

For OP: ink seems to have better drops from killing things than farming, particularly if you're doing it casually. If you'd rather a guaranteed set of drops, if you have alt characters you could run the quests a handful of times on alt characters. The achievement is accountwide.

You bought the DLC mostly for one skill colour??

For refund I would contact support\sales, if you explain you are dissatisfied with the product they may work with you on a refund.

Or you could just hold off for a bit? There were responses from a couple of the community managers that the team heard the complaints about horrible drop rates and are reviewing for improvements.

Huh, I have the opposite experience.

I have gotten maybe 5 inks from enemies, and over 100 from farming.

Yes, they have already stated that drops from bosses are bugged and will be fixing that in an upcoming incremental. How much bosses are supposed to drop is unknown, but they are currently not giving any at all.

It does not take countless hours to get 50 Ink, especially when 12 are guaranteed by doing the first four Wing quests. If you do both sets of Wing quests on both of your extant characters, you are just about halfway there.

For the future, it may help to understand that ZOS does not give out collectibles just for buying the chapter unless they are the pre-order and/or deluxe items. Other rewards come from playing the game to a greater or lesser extent, and these "chases" are always intentionally built into ZOS' game design. You may wish to use the PTS, which is free since you already own the base game, or ask someone what would be involved in getting what you want before purchasing a DLC if you are after something specific like this and want to gauge whether you feel the reward is worth the investment required. Many of us are happy to answer such questions if you do not have the space or data to download the PTS yourself.

It doesn't take long at all to amass 50 ink which is what is needed for the black color for force shock. I did it the first week, and I wasn't doing any insane grinding to get ink drops. The scripts are the biggest obstacle for me using scribing more because it takes a while to get all of them needed on all my alts so I can actually make some skills.

I have 44 ink left and I have made about 9 skills thus far not counting the free one you get for the quest. I have two characters done with the scripts with 12 more to go, so that will definitely be the biggest grind for me. If the color is your biggest concern, don't refund since it isn't that tough to get.

I did the full scribing quest once and the first stage on 3 other characters. I haven't done any node farming. The achievement is up to 36/50 without even trying. Which is strange because I currently have 43 luminous ink and haven't purchased any from other players and I've scribed a few abilities.

So no, it's not close to impossible. It's very attainable for the most casual of players.

Scribing is not as grindy as some in this forum would have you believe. Someone I know in discord was so discouraged by what they had read about scribing here that they were going to skip it, but then couldn't believe how easy it was when they actually did it.

I second @Desiato (post above). I almost gave up on scribing due to all the complains in forum re grinding. Though, I did the Netch quest to unlock getting inks from nodes and I was very surprise at how fair the drop rate is. By far better than some other older rare resources.

I'm a lazy chilling player (all my farming resources related abilities set to max by CPs) and have already 19 inks.

I think that the issue is more that:
    - Many players want to have things done fast. So, they do intensive nodes farming and of course, to their taste, the drop rate doesn't allow to go fast enough.
    - Not all players have the same cursor for grinding. If someone doesn't like farming resources, of course, one round is already a massive bother.

All that to say: I don't see an issue at all with luminous ink farming. The drop rate is equivalent to other rare resources (it's even better than some). Beside, don't forget it can be purchased to skip any grinding and finally, keep in mind that nobody ever said that all has to be completed within a few days. :D

It cannot be purchased to skip the Ink Amasser and Ink Accumulator grinds. Fortunately the skill style is only behind the 50-Ink achievement and not the 100-Ink one.

… or, alternatively, you’ve just been having good luck, and it actually IS a very grindy system overall? It’s RNG-based, after all. Many of us have not been so fortunate as you. I’ve been doing node farming between zone quests and grinding out dungeons for DAYS in a very un-casual way. I also tried scribing a couple of new skills (just a couple, and had to fix a mistake I’d made with an earlier attempt — which also set me back some ink).

Know how much ink I currently have after all of that? Thirteen. That means I can scribe four new skills, and make a small change to one. In a system with thousands of possibilities.

    Hooray…

I got this achievement on the 3rd day after Gold Road dropped... 12 from the quest, 2 from kills, and 36 from nodes.

And I was quite disappointed by the black Force Pulse look. It's more of a sickly green color, kind of like the shades glow from Arkthzand caverns. Looks good if you have a shade polymorph that uses staffs, but kind of clashy with most other looks.
    RIP Bosmer Nation. 4/4/14 - 2/25/19.

isn't it a bit early to dump the whole system?

so you dump it, get what you paid for back and its removed from your account. Then a month or two down the road things change, you want it again, and you have to buy it all back and start over.

If you are/have been playing the game for a long time, this just does not make sense to me. You bought it, but if you don't want to use it, don't use it. There will probably come a time where things change and you will have it as well as having all the progression. If you play Casually, you can't expect everything to be accomplished fast and easy.

I also disagree with the 'it's too difficult to make more characters' viewpoint. Sure, you are only playing casually, but because of that you should expect things will take longer than the dedicated daily player. Leveling Alts is not that difficult.

    IMHO

You signed away all your rights when you accepted the long wall of text after buying the game. Eso is not a normal product, and video games are not regulated very customer friendly yet. The law doesn't seem to care about gamers. And i am pretty sure the terms of service say "no refunds" somewhere. Best way to deal with this is to never preorder a video game and always wait a few weeks or months for others to test it.

To confirm what TaSheen said: it was bugged from boss enemies, not from basepop.

I got 5 from 1,000 cliff striders this past week. Not sure if the drop chances for mobs with the usual 31.4k hp instead of 60k+ are any different.

I got one ink over the course of this endeavor yesterday, upon harvesting my 100th node.

As of now, I have 15 inks, total; six from the two scribing quest wings I've completed so far [Indrik and Netch], five came from various resource nodes, three from backpacks [2] and urns [1], and one from a non-boss enemy.
