What do you think about cross play for PVP servers only. New standalone service for PVP with cross play.

Not sure how they could do it without just starting a new server and making us all create new characters. Even if they let you bring a character over that version of the character couldn't go back to the other servers. It would be a one time one way migration. I doubt it would be worth their investment of time and resources.

Makes me wonder if the PC players would just utterly wreck the Console tryhards. Would be interesting to see what difference if any Mouse and Keyboard makes in combat skill.

Imagine how it would actually go. PS5 would be AD
EP would to PC and Xbox would go DC LOL Man that would be fun I'm sure it would go differently still lol

I play on PC and Xbox. And there definitely top tier players on both. because of less choice of games like ESO to play. But over all PC pop is slightly higher in PVP most of the time. I have seen PVP pop locked on Xbox and not on PC several times in the last 2 months but not at prime time though.

There are a lot of PC players who use controller for combat, actually. The bigger advantage would be access to addons, not M&K.

I think cross play between the consoles would be fine (though unlikely, thanks to Sony). Cross play with PC and the consoles would only work if addons were disabled, and I doubt many PC players would go for that. Addons just offer way too much functionality to give them up.

Unless they somehow manage to be able to handle more players per server, Im not sure I would want this as a PC player. The "main campaign" already is full prime time. They could take the lesser used campaigns and make them no-addon or something, I guess.

Is the problem with Cyro that the "instance" can't handle that many players?

What they need is to introduce some 2 sided BG's with smaller maps that are somewhere between 15 v 15 and max 40 v 40. The most fun PVP games have TWO teams not Three. And put timers on these events. Rift had a great two sided event. Even Castle Wars on Runescape had two sides. Like the BG's now, you just get a random team. You aren't always on the same team. The problem I have with BG's is that it is always 3v3v3. And the regular players on the leader boards won't attack each other. Plus all the different maps with all those layers waste too much time. You need a more simple map like Arathi Basin, WSG, AV or even Castle wars. Just carry a flag across the map. Don't have all those obstructions.

This game simply can't handle an instance with 200 players. And the map is way too big for 200 players. Cyro without the towns, outposts and smaller might work. Just condense the map and have TWO teams. And put a timer on the event 1 hour. Maybe two hours.

Recently I was playing WOW and they had an event Blood Moon and at prime time a lot of players were lagging because there were a lot more players than the usual 40v40. Sometimes even Winter Grasp lags. But you never got lag in AV with 40 v 40. I think it may be time to accept these "full realm" wars just won't work. Players have too many different computers. I rarely lag in Cyro and when I do it is ALWAYS around a certain player or group of players. There is no doubt in my mind that some players there use something like a lag switch. I've only seen it once in the last month but it was every single time I was around a certain group. I've played with some players that know tech and they say someone is using a lag switch. You get the same exact type of lag around them. I've listened on a discord with a certain ball group that said they were using something. And they would count down certain aoe's that lagged everyone. In a smaller map with flatter terraine, it would be too obvious if someone was doing this. I hate to say that the no CP in BG's may help with eliminate lag. I don't BG in ESO any more because of the double teaming. I've sat there and watched groups of players double team. When you look at BG's it's the same core of players. You get in a group with one and they go down the list selecting targets. Saying "don't bother attacking x". "And they NEVER attack certain players so the team follows along and attacks the random players. I was in one game where my random team just waited out the buzzer and the other two teams literally stood around doing nothing.

I won't reroll for a PVP server because it wouldn't have enough population with the current PVP instances.

I would be open to a smaller than Cyrodiil, but larger scale than BGs game mode with quick results. But I would never be open to a complete replacement of the perpetual RvRvR. To me, that is all ESO has going for it

If this is only cross-play for consoles (Xbox and PS), then I would be okay with this. If it includes PC, then no. Every game that I've played that has PC cross-play for PVP has turned out to be a miserable experience, and I don't think it would be a good idea to have it here. PC's are not the equivalent of consoles, and so they should not be put on the same playing field.

That was my opinion years ago, however I was proven wrong as a lot of highly effective players on PC use controllers. Though I prefer mouse and keyboard because they have less latency, some would argue controllers are superior because of ergonomics.

In an fps [without aim assist] it would matter, but ESO doesn't require precise aiming.

Addons come with a cost. The lua engine is single threaded and screen refreshes need to wait for it, so addons can combine for a significant performance impact, especially in terms of microstutter that one will not see represented in fps meters. This was confirmed by a zos graphics engineer years ago. They are also a crutch. I play pve with some console transfers, and frankly they're more skilled in a lot of ways because they learned to do content without addons.

The pvp population is so low, I think the idea has merit, but I don't see zos making the investment necessary to do it because pvp is such a small part of the game in terms of usage.

No thank you. I actually feel all that PC players should have to use keyboard/mouse controls and shouldn't even have the option of using a game box controller. That way everyone is playing the same game with the same controllers on their respective platforms.

that seems a little impossible to do only for 2 zones.

it's likely already really difficult for zos to implement crossplay, but you want them to do it for only Cyrodiil and imperial city?

use mouse and keyboard if you want, but gamepads/controllers are more accessible for a lot of people so we'll continue using them for pc gaming

Zos has given pretty consistent and repeated answers over the years that the game was not originally designed with crossplay, cross-save, server transfers, etc., in mind, and that adding such features presents significant challenges.

Just mentioning for any who might not have seen the topic brought up in a while.

Doesn't hurt to ask but I wouldn't expect anything on that front soon.

Inputs won't matter with 5 fps and 999+ ping.
