Since I just saw players moaning about everything so far, it is time for a positive topic:

- beautiful town and environment
- interesting and well done quests (sidequests + story)
- scribing will create a nice individual alternative to all builds and is a good gold sink
- the new skill colours look pretty cool often
- the furniture is well made and fitting
- the house we can buy for ingamegold is well built and leaves a lot of space for ideas

So thanks for a nice dlc :)

Some things I love about Gold Road:
    • The environment
    • The flower patterns on the inside walls of houses that looks like wallpaper
    • The furnishings
    • The way the incursions affect a whole area, making us go after the enemies rather than just standing in a circle fighting them
    • The different mechanics with a lot of the quests
    • The Wandering World Boss
    PCNA

I agree. I am enjoying this new chapter and haven't yet been disappointed in the quests. Love the art, the furniture, the house that is available for gold and the beauty of the zone! Scribing seems to have a promising future and I'm very glad that the new incursions can be an exciting informal group gathering rather then the forced grouping model that is in Necrom.

One disappointment so far, though, is the lack of decent stealing opportunities in the few locked homes I found in the city. Better marks for thieves please ! :)

I'm going slowly through this chapter and so far its a beauty!

It's a chapter, not a DLC! :D I agree it's nice, and I've enjoyed it so far. Not sure it's the best value for money, although it was my choice to go for the deluxe version...
It's a tradition, or an old charter, or something...

"Thank you for the nice DLC! "

    Agree.

It's an bit occupational hazard for me as game graphic designer.
I kept checking "round shape" in the town and public dungeon.

10 years later from 2014, there're no more "blocky shape” object anymore
even in MMORPG. Definitely polygon amount is higher than any of previous DLC.
And texture become far more gorgeous also. I'm happy to see those graphics even in
    MMO graphic basis.

I'm loving the West Weald. For the first time in a while, I want to poke into every corner, and as soon as I log off, I look forward to my next play session. The environments are beautiful, and I've enjoyed the quests I've done so far. They strike the right balance between talking and action. The NPCs don't go on forever, but they have more than three lines. I've also seen a lot of interesting touches as I ride/run around.

Just this morning something caught my eye and I went off the beaten path to check it out. I much prefer these outdoor environments to areas like Apocrypha and Gloomreach. Give me trees and lakes any day.

This chapter has been one of the best in a long while, both in terms of writing and aesthetics.

I've been loving the zone design. It reminds me of older zones like Summerset, Elsweyr, and Skyrim, where time was clearly taken to make the scenery picturesque no matter where you turn. The juxtaposition between the autumn leaves, the wildburn, and the encroaching dawnwood is striking. There's a balance between realism and artistic stylization present, and I really appreciate it, because it reminds me of the feeling evoked by the base-game zones. Even so, it's a clear upgrade from them graphically.

The designers also really knew what they were doing when it comes to visual story telling and drawing a player in. Paths half hidden by trees evoke curiosity and the desire to explore. Little hidden places where you can find gazebos tucked away, lorebooks, seating areas, and the implication that someone lives (or lived) in that location, and cared about it. You really get a feel for what life across the entire zone was like before it was disrupted.

As someone who plays in Cyrodiil frequently and enjoys PVP as a part of a characters story, it makes me feel nostalgic for what Cyrodiil and the Imperial City once must have been like before it was torn asunder by war and Molag Bal, and what it can still be (which we later see in Oblivion) You can still see a ghost of that beauty in the surrounding country side of Cyrodiil, and I think they did a great job tying the West Weald into it's appearance. It's graphically updated, of course, but there's some truly lovely places in Cyrodiil if you look for them, and I see that mirrored in the West Weald (pardon the pun, lol)

Also...the torn flags, signs of war and wear, around the gates leading to Cyrodiil. The feeling that those broken walls are just barely holding back the war that could, at any time, threaten to spill over into the Weald. Just. Perfection.

I can't reiterate it enough. There's -so many- stories being told here, and they aren't just the ones that you can interact with through quests.

Oh, and it was a nice touch to have soldiers who were clearly from Cyrodiil escorting prisoners from other factions along the road. I don't know if the appearance of those NPC's is faction-specific, but my EP PVP templar encountered two Dominion thugs escorting a captured EP soldier towards the gates to Cyrodiil on the road. I was amused when they shouted at my character and told him to move along/that what was happening was none of his business. Needless to say, he made it his business, and the EP soldier went free.

The team who created this zone clearly knew what they were doing, putting little touches of the war in a PVE zone. Really well done.

Sorry for the long post. I just really want the dev's to know what an amazing job they did with this one.

So yes, in short: Thank you for this one. Please make zones like this again!

I love Scribing for PvP! The zone itself is very pretty. So are the Spell Styles. BLUE VIGOR!

The boring grind makes the $40 feel like a scam, but at least the final product itself still feels worth it.

I've been taking my time going through the scribing quests, and doing a few incursions a day, both are well done. Also the music and enemy voice effects during the incursions are great. The zone looks scenic and nice but also I feel the art and music are consistently good each chapter.

West Weald looks really beautiful and parts of it remind me of the painted world from Oblivion (my only minor annoyance is that some places look slightly cartoonish).

Mirrormoor incursions not only look good but the chanting mixed with the otherwordly music is perfect.

Loved the scribing questline (started it just to unlock scribing and didn't stop until it was completed) and wasn't disappointed in the main quests either (as someone who loved TESIV: Shivering Isles, I wasn't surprised in the outcome).
And having a sidequest with my favourite vampire (he's the only vampire I like tbh) made my day.

And the Adventurer Across a Decade achievement was a nice addition. It did feel good to get that done and although I don't really like skins and I don't use them, the Fractured Glory looks better in the game than it did on the promotional picture.

It's not the sarcasm which "bothers" me. I just saw a lot of posts lately where some users accused others who had critically adressed an issue of "negativity", even if it were polite and fact-based posts. The other way round, some accused their fellow posters here who wrote positive opinions as being "uncritical" and the reason that problems aren't solved because they applaud no matter the quality of content they get. I just don't think the playerbase - and forum crowd - needs more separation and antagonism. That was the only thing my first comment here was about. That said, everyone can write whatever they want, of course.

Haven't seen much so far since I was busy playing Necrom first - though that's already the first positive for me: the fact that the chapters heavily build on each other, but you could still play GR without having played Necrom beforehand.

The intro quest was nice, happy to see little brother again. Though now I want more background info on why a shrine to Azura is lit by a Meridia statue ...

Skingrad is beautiful, as is the zone itself and are the delves.

So far I only know the Bosmer village quest, which was incredibly cute.

The Ayleid public dungeon made me feel like playing Daggerfall (as in I was totally lost and the map didn't help, either), which for some strange reason actually made me happy ... XD

Looking forward to the zone quests, since I enjoyed Necrom so much.

And the scribing system, appart from the ink grind, would be a lot of fun. I know some people didn't like how long the questline was, but I had a lot of fun. Just waiting for a fox house guest, because ... ADORABLE!
