Did LC, word of advice, please stop with the effects

Probably my biggest gripe with this game is the amount of effects and the fact you can't see anything, like ever. Please either scale back the particle effects in the future or give us an option to turn off player effects. The combination of player effects plus all the particle effects from mobs makes this game almost unplayable a lot of the time since you can't see your crosshairs, can't see where you are, can't see what you're supposed to avoid, can't see what you're supposed to use....really the game difficulty should be mechanics, not blinding the player so they can't tell what's going on.

You can turn off additional ally effects and then turn off bloom. Turning off bloom helps massively, I think ZOS needs to take a look at their bloom setting and update it because sometimes it doesn’t function properly (like I think it was the scalecaller radiant apex senche? That has a blindfold on but with bloom its eyes glow horribly through the blindfold) and sometimes is overwhelming (like literally I can’t see anything but light).

On low settings it's all good. Tbh I don't know how one can play this game on high settings without combat addons. You basically can't see anything.

For me, the excessive use of flashing white screen on most quests makes me fear I may get seizures considering I live alone and no one could check on me if one of these episodes gets me. Perhaps an option to change the color with some presets could be a half backed solution for that problem. I think a somewhat grayish color could be a good replacement.

Flashing white screen just straight up needs to go away in my opinion. I’ve said this before elsewhere on the forums but I don’t have abnormal light sensitivity and I play in a lit room yet it still hurts my eyes.

Why wouldn’t you? Its in the in-game settings. Bloom is under video and additional ally effects is under video or combat, I think.

No, they do not exist for us. We have a pared-down version of options compared to you guys.

they simply do not exist on PlayStation and Xbox.

zos really needs to give us (all platforms) options to turn off flashing effects as has been said countless times before.
Like some mounts have pulsing/flashing light effects, the meridian sabre cat, it could just not pulse/flash and instead be a static glow

It’s crazy to me console doesn’t have those options with how blinding the game gets, definitely ZOS needs to remedy that!

It really does need to be toned down. It's the worst from a tank POV bc you often have the whole raid's effects plus all the mobs' effects in your face.

A lot of the new Apex mounts are literally painful when someone mounts one of them close by. Which they do, a lot, in crafting areas to show off.

It's an accessibility issue (accessibility as in ADA, not accessibility as in new player). I wish "limit followers in town" could also turn off those effects, but being able to turn them off in the options, like PC, would be optimal, for those of us on console.

minimal settings seems like the way to go. esp if you're looking for fragments or parts of a thing like a tapestry or an instrument collection... they grass hides a lot and turning it off does wonders for qol.

The direction the visuals are going in the game is really worrying me, both from a visual sensitivity and accessibility perspective (not being able to disable seeing the new skill styles was a a big oversight imo) but also form an aesthetic perspective, because a lot of the more recent visuals (some recall actions, mounts, the mirrormoor incursions) do not fit in the more 'realistic' fantasy atmosphere the game has.

Photosensitive player here. I have hyperreactive retinas. Flashing lights can cause literal physical pain. The lack of video options on console is a constant hindrance to me. There are activities in the game I simply can't engage with, quests I need to avoid, and things I can only do during certain times in the game's daylight cycle or during off hours where there aren't other players setting off fireworks in my face. I have had friends spot me during certain boss fights, telling me when to block or move, because I can't watch the screen. I have some flashy mounts, but I don't end up using them for very long. My favorite go to is the Sanguivorian Howler because it's a dark cloud that hurts no one. I don't play the game nearly as much as I used to.

I hope you enjoyed that stream of consciousness paragraph.

Did LC again this weekend, most of the boss fights the screen was practically white the whole time except the mirrors boss. Seriously, you literally can't see anything, crosshair, or even other players with the amount of effects going on, let alone where you need to cleanse the darkness. Not to mention the frame drop down to 20fps during some of the fights. Normally I sit around 75 (I keep my game locked to the refresh rate, helps with heat on the gpu), but this is the only trial where my fps drops so low I can barely swap bars. Other guildies have been having the same issues with this trial.

I fully agree. Died twice yesterday during a mob fight because the aoe was drowned in shiny yellow light effects of some of the illuminated adds.

I agree. Trials nowadays look more like a Las Vegas casino or dancing/disco club than a combat area.

Please go back to old Aetherian Archive, Hel Ra Citadel, even Halls of Fabrication, and those type of trials where you can clearly see what the mechanics are and what is happening in the fights.

Would also love to see some options regarding this issue.
Add keybindings, to quickly disable/enable, and add an API function so addons can also modify that.
Would probably solve a lot of issues, also for players with low fps during fights + new players could see/learn mechanics easier, because without combat addons you miss like 50% of all AOEs or mechanics because you either dont see them or see them when it's way to late.
