Super Casual Scribing Impressions

So far so good.

Scribing is certainly getting me to explore Tamriel and that's not a bad thing. Naturally we'll get side tracked along the way too. I see it as a very clever means to extend our gameplay.

The way drops work I feel that I'll have to diversify my play time. But then... so many companions to level up too and they each have specific needs such as Mages or Fighters Guild dailies. As usual everything is interrelated. No complaints. If anything, I feel that if I do a Mages Guild daily for a companion then I'm getting more bang for my buck. Sometimes it works in with Endeavour Weeklies/Dailies. So I'm more likely to do said dailies or, heaven forbid... an Undaunted daily (the easiest of which I'd solo as I detest speed run groups - I like to smell the roses, trip to the refrigerator, chat on WA etc).

The usefuleness of Scribing... Well I typically load up crit and use crafted gear sets for crit or sometimes a lower level Vet dungeon gear set (which I'd solo - just saying - I do like to get the blood pumping sometimes too, like actually have to move in a fight).

But lately I'm exploring hybrid health / main stat. With "while slotted" skills for major/minor stuff, Oaken (remember when it first launched - crazy times), main stat regen and that doesn't leave much wiggle room for skills so I see scribing as adding a bit of missing AoE or whatever. Plus some nice colour effects to feed into the fantasy of the character I created too (I solo RP).

I do like the characters I interact with and the overall ambience. One or two are candidiates for overall top ten favourite NPCs in my honest opinion.

(Tangent incoming: In so far as Gold Road quests etc... haven't started really. I'm not into the previous chapter "champion saving the world" and this is a continuation. I prefer to be a side kick in a much less existential threat situation. Thinking back to the original zone story lines. But then... the original Main Quest is unbeatable and that was definitely an existential threat. More John Cleese please)

I’ve now finished all the intro Scripting quests.

It took me across vast swathes of Tamriel. I played my newest character, an Arcanist. I’m so thankful. Each new zone I allowed myself to be distracted. Lots of new Skysharfs, Wayshrines, completed Delves, zone quests, gathering, anchors, nearby places, lots of CP.

It would be so sad to complete the initial scripting quests on a character which had mostly completed everything else in these zones.

ZOS are making excellent use of old assets here alongside the excellent new art and related assets with the various “wings”. (Avoiding spoilers).

Given that there is no race to a singular, narrow end game that’s only relevant until the next chapter/expansion (cough wintery blizzard cough) I don’t at all feel the necessity of must-do dailies or else I’ll lag behind everyone. There’s no race. I have added reason yes to do an Undaunted, Mage,Fighters, etc daily but that’s simply it - I can still be super casual and squeeze in play alongside real life.

That’s the beauty of content always being relevant. I’m free to make my own pace and incentivised to spend more dollars because of it.

I look forward to revealing the new skills as I assess the final gear build for my stamina Arcanist. Naturally I’ll have a longer look at the Macarbe and other new zone sets too.

A final note. The new skills I’ll pickup don’t need to be levelled. I wouldn’t have minded having to level them but I can understand that we’d be reluctant to invest in scripted skills if they initially were weak.

A final final negative note: I like the spread of ways to acquire the “parts” to the new skill system. But I’d like an easier in-game reminder, preferably adjacent to the scripting workbench/altar, of what activities will yield what drop (unique and once per day I understand already). Right now I’m relying on notes.

Just wanted to let you know, when they say an Undaunted daily, they mean the simple delve daily from Bolgrul. Not the Pledges.
    Thank Stendarr it’s Fredas.

Yup. I’ve been doing the Bogrul daily. Makes this grind so trivial. Pretty much that plus one Mage daily, one Fighters daily and a daily in the new zone. Not a big ask.

I’d just make sure I had an appropriate companion out at hand in too, such as Mirri for Fighters. Makes the companion grind easier too.
