I found it odd that the gryphon and dragon, which are emblems for two of the alliances, were included, but there was no lion for the third. I also really like the chimera in the game, and I felt that the netch was an unusual choice for one of the luminaries. While I understand the symbolic representations of each luminary, having a gryphon and a dragon without a lion felt off.
The Indrik makes sense, though it's strange that we get two creatures representing Ebonheart (dragon and netch) and two for the Dominion (indrik and gryphon). I know that the luminaries are meant to symbolize the nature of magic, as mentioned by each luminary when you ask them about eachother's personality. It's very clear they represent interpretations of how magic and power should be wielded and what is should be used for. So yes I know the luminaries aren't supposed to represent the alliances. You could say it was conincidence or they just picked "magic creatures" for the luminaries although I wouldn't say netchs, crows or foxes are necessarily magical innately. The Gryphon, Dragon and Indrik are typically depicted as more magical. I guess you could argue that a lion on it's own doesn't represent anything magical much like the crow, fox and netch. Although still would of been nice to nod to the alliances and logo.
I appreciate how the chimera represents the three alliances (and the three elements of Elder Scrolls magicka, especially if you have the statue furnishing from the druidic furnishing bundle. Gryphon depicted frost, wamasu depicted lightning and lion depicted fire.) I also enjoy how the three creatures symbolize not only the alliances but also the game's logo and the spirit of the game, as seen in the logo's constant presence. These subtle nods to the game's themes and motifs make everything feel connected to the main quest line and alliance war, which has been the overarching theme for ten years.
In conclusion, I would have loved for one of the luminaries to be a lion. Did anyone else find it strange that it wasn't include or is it just me?
