How ESO Scribing works with Alt Characters

I've collected all the Focus, Signature and Affix scripts on my main, so now I'm getting duplicates that are filling up my bank and I'm not sure if I should save them. Could my alts use them? It looks like those three Script types are already unlocked for them too.

Yes alts can use them, if you have a favorite set of scripts that you want on your alts, have one character read all but the scripts you want, then when they pick up new scripts they will only be among the types you want, since it’s curated

This. I understand perfectly how scribing works with alts. I simply dislike how it works with alts. Scripts and grimoires should be account-wide -- especially considering the grind involved for getting luminous ink. Implementing two grinds with one system seems like overkill.

To add somewhat to the other response here, alts can use them and they don't need to have done any part of the Scholarium quest to do it. They're mostly just a checkmark in the character's achievements until the character unlocks the scribing altar, but they can be consumed to clear them out of storage and that checkmark also prevents that script from duplicating in their reward coffers (scripts are curated per-character).

Maybe I just missed it, but I didn't see a note about level requirements for using scripts on alts in your guide. At least for me, when I collect the Mages Guild scripts on alts who are under level 50 (my best guess), they can be collected but not actually used. They are red in my inventory and say my level isn't high enough when I try to use them. The below-CP characters I have who completed the first scribing quest and collected the same scripts were able to use them just fine. I haven't tried with dailies scripts yet.

Okay, I just read in the update notes that this is apparently a bug, so nevermind!
"Mages Guild Scripts that you can find are currently incorrectly displayed as level 50 usage only. This will be fixed in an upcoming incremental patch. If you have picked up the Mages Guild Scripts before this is resolved and are still below level 50, we suggest deleting and reacquiring them."
I wish I had known that before running around to all those Mages Guilds on my alts.

Bare minimum they should have had the achievements for the non class scrips be character only not account wide, so you can actually keep track of who knows what among your alts, without having to visit to the altar to check.

I don't THINK it's an add-on, but I can check it outside of the altar by going to my skills page and using the scribing tab.

Doesn't that only show the grimoires on the character? got no issue with those can just buy them, its the individual focus/signature/affix scrips that I would like to be able to keep track of on alts, without relying on visiting the altar.

Never mind I never bothered to click on the grimoires before to see all the scrips listed, I see what you mean now.

@ZOS_Kevin please see complaints in this thread and in other threads of similar title.
The grind is too long on alt characters.
If you finish the scribing line and unlock everything on your main character, alt characters should be able to unlock everything as well either:
-automatically (account wide)
-with gold
-with crowns

I think people are a bit overreacting. Other than the abysmal ink drop rates nothing in this Scribing system requires excessive grinding.

There is a merchant in the Scholarium who sells scripts. Same goes for Filer Ool in the Infinite Archive as well. If you just use gold and regularly do dailies on your characters you will get everything slowly with no excessive grinding. Currently just go to that merchant and buy everything you can for all of your characters. Any script you get from those merchants will lessen the time to fully unlock scribing on your account.

If you need a certain skill on a certain character you can prioritize that character of course. For example my Arcanist character needed three skills for my progress group. I prioritized that character and now slowly collecting scripts on alts.

I don’t want a certain skill, I want to experiment with different skill combinations. That’s what scribing was made for.
Ink makes it difficult to experiment on one character, scripts make it impossible to experiment on others.

without "Scribing fatigue quest line".

Just why player can't share scribing skill which your main character made like the gears?
That's the most stupid aspect of this skill line.
