Well I just 100% Necrom and...wow from the color palette to the storyline I loved all the shoutouts to AD&D's Planescape and the CRPG Planes of Torment it was a fun roller-coaster and some of your best writing in years. You could really tell that ESO is in fact written by many former TSR writers (Who haven't missed a step) and if I could make a suggestion you should embrace that more as that type of writing is greatly missed by many of us.

I know I can't stop the inevitable snarky reply to this but I just want you to know that the appreciation of the story isn't lost on many of us as most of of the folks I talked to that use to play AD&D back in the day feel the same way.

Not really snark - I just could not get into Planescape at all. Much like I couldn't get into the Witcher games. There are just things that never clicked with me. I was FAR more into Ed's Forgotten Realms, more my cuppa for sure.

I hope when I really get into Necrom that I won't know it's "like Planescape"....

I get that...I guess I enjoyed Planescape because I read The Elric Saga by Michael Moorcock and it dealt with such locales in a cool high Fantasy way

As far as you knowing it's like Planescape...that depends on how familiar you are with the old sourcebooks really.

Familiar enough.... I tried to like Planescape, I really did.... [I didn't really enjoy Moorcock either, sorry.]

Just to add a comment so you don't feel alone :)
I loved Planescape, went it through three times - such an unusual story - the atmosphere was a big part of the appeal
But I can see how some people would not like all the reading stuff that is required

Oh, I never mind reading. I read so fast (like 1500 wpm) that it's never really a chore. The problem for me was the.... uh.... overdone grittiness (I guess that's the word) of the Planescape setting (for me - I know there are many people who really loved it, but it just wasn't for me).

I DM'd scenarios of my own creation for my daughter and her jr high/high school friends in the mid-70s, and if that didn't require a lot of reading background, I don't know what might have!

Today, I read whole novels in the evenings after dinner....
