So I've seen this mentioned several places, but I've not seen any official confirmation. I've read that there is 100% up time on the recipe in Cyrodiil, in that there is always one spawned somewhere, and when one is harvested, another is spawned somewhere. I've checked the patch notes, and they just say they are a rare item. It seems to me that this is just RNG when the node spawns, which means that there could be multiple up at any time... or none. Does anyone have any official confirmation on this?

Following, would like info on this as well.

However like most rare drops in ESO it's much mire efficient IMO to spend time farming gold than farming a particular item.

the rumormill i heard is that there is only 1 spawn of the recipe at any one time, and it basically replaces 1 of the several hundreds of material nodes when it respawns

cyro is a massive zone, theres not really any feasible way to search the entire map yourself, and you never know who else would be trying to do the same thing

ive found one just by random chance, havent seen another since lol

Yeah, I was hoping to find a source for that theory that there is always only one, but haven't seen one yet.

I think that they've reduced the number of the recipies that exist at any one time, but only ZOS knows for sure. I've never seen where a ZOS rep has stated what the frequency of spawning of the recipe is. I just play and have fun and get excited when I run across one. I think I've found about 5 so far, but only two from farming for it when it first came out. On one occasion I even picked up one while I was running a scroll. That was good for a laugh.

I know this is a long shot, but @ZOS_Kevin , any chance we could get an official word on if each node is rng spawn or if there is always one spawned somewhere and no more than one?

It's somewhere around 5,000 nodes, some of which are in delves. I've found it three times now; once on the path to a delve, once down by the water around the northern shore of the central lake, and the last time it was—believe it or not—right out in the open in a field north of Harlun's Outpost. All three times, I basically just blundered into it while doing other things.

if your going for all of the recipes, you actually need 3 total

    1 to learn
1 to upgrade to the molten war torte (and then learn that)
1 to upgrade to the molten war torte, then upgrade to white gold war torte (and learn that)

Have you checked how much it costs to craft anything other than the most basic war torte? It's seriously not worth it to invest in anything other than the 50% torte. It's not even worth it to buy anything other than the 50% torte from vendors the cost break is so extreme.

yeah im aware of that which is why its on the backburner, i still want to have them at some point though for completion sake (the molten and white gold recipes are the only provisioning recipes in the game i havent learned lol)

i wouldnt likely use or craft the other tortes either unless someone was providing me mats to make it for them lol

I don’t plan to craft them, I just want the recipe to satisfy my completionism.

I suppose it helps boost my chances for a provisioning master writ slightly too by learning it.

what you can do,if free time is to plan a route and go harvesting all nodes up to a certain area, turn back to original spot and start over
got drops after doing rounds at Vlastarus till south Black Boot castle, use ring of wild hunt and vamp stage 4 so you run faster and in stealth, will proly take you 3-4 days -a week to get one

True, but that assumes that each node has an independent chance to spawn a book. If there is only 1 book that is always up somewhere, you can run that route forever and never get it if no one picks up the one that has spawned elsewhere. That is why I was trying to find the source of that info that's out there.

i dont know -and dont believe that the recipe is only 1 drop cause i know others who got the recipe near my farming area...but i cant guarantee or have proofs about the spawns,so if time i suggest that you try farm it or buy from traders
i paid 4 mil for molten war torte cause ive spend al my telvar for getting an powerful assault ice staff i was missing (got it after opening countless boxes) so you either farm mats or farm gold (the grind is present either way)
    best of luck

When the recipe was first released there were at least a couple locations where it reliably spawned. One spawn point was in a delve, and that's where I found my first one. But people posted videos of the locations and I'm pretty sure the locations became more random shortly after.

I don’t plan to craft them, I just want the recipe to satisfy my completionism.

I suppose it helps boost my chances for a provisioning master writ slightly too by learning it.

    EDIT: clarification

what you can do,if free time is to plan a route and go harvesting all nodes up to a certain area, turn back to original spot and start over
got drops after doing rounds at Vlastarus till south Black Boot castle, use ring of wild hunt and vamp stage 4 so you run faster and in stealth, will proly take you 3-4 days -a week to get one
    good luck

I have done some harvesting in a few areas that are known to drop them, but after a couple of weeks I gave up. I did this on multiple campaigns too.

In addition to doing PvP I had my main character criss-crossing the zone looking for lorebooks. I was hoping I might find one then but no luck.

Skyshard and lorebook searches and town quests were how I found mine.

I've found it 3 times so far, twice on PC EU and once on PC NA.

When I found it on PC NA, I was in the area between the house where you have to poison the Black Daggers' food and the little island where you have to recover the Claw of Akatosh, both of which are daily quests for Weynon Priory. There's a bear in a cave along the rock wall in that area, and I saw the telltale green glow at the base of the rock wall not far from that cave.

The first time I found it on PC EU, I was chasing an AD player between Ash and the Ash milegate. They ran off in the vicinity of Lake Rumare and I followed, then I saw that telltale green glow at the base of a small rock outcropping.

The second time I found it on PC EU, I had taken my newest alt (an AD Arcanist Magicka DD) to Under L50 Cyrodiil to get his Alliance War training and acquire the passive that increases mount speed a bit. I accepted a scouting mission and a mission to capture a resource, which I wanted to see if I could do solo at that low level. While I was on my way from completing the scouting mission to the resource I was supposed to capture, I saw the telltale green glow at the base of a tree, just a bit south of the Ash milegate.

During the last Zeal of Zenithar event I took advantage of the 10% discounts on everything to buy 2 Rubyblossom Extracts as well as 2 Chef Arquitius's Torte Dissertation on both servers, which set me back a bit on my Tel Var but was definitely cheaper than buying them at full price. I was able to upgrade the second recipe that I found on PC EU, and am now hoping to find the recipe once more on PC EU and twice more on PC NA.

A while back I think someone in another thread about this recipe mentioned that they've been able to farm it. If I understood and remember correctly, the idea was to stick within a reasonably small area where there are a lot of resource nodes, then go around farming all of them as they spawn. It might take a while (as in several hours), but if you're very lucky the recipe will eventually spawn in that area. If I got that right, I'm guessing the "trick" is to keep harvesting the nodes in that area so the game will need to respawn more nodes to replace the ones that were harvested, hopefully (but not always) in that same area. And hopefully the recipe will eventually respawn in that area as well after it's either been harvested or despawned by the game from its previous locations. It certainly isn't a guaranteed method, but more a way of trying to maximize your chances by using the game's mechanics to your advantage.

I have tried farming an area just like that, but only a few of the nodes respawn and then they just seem to stop. I have wasted a lot of time there so it’s just easier to wait until I have enough gold to buy one. It is much more rewarding to find on instead, and you would think as much time I have spent in Cyrodiil and how much of the area I have covered that would have happened, but sadly no.

If it happens now that’s great, but if not then I’m done trying to find it.
