Volenfell Needs a Fix!

I have gotten stuck on the quest step to flip the second switch lever several times now, having to rerun the entire dungeon to earn credit.

The last time was when I was in the same room while it was flipped by someone else!

This quest step should auto complete when you go out of the area and onto the next step, if not get completed when ANYONE in the party pulls the lever. Repeating an entire dungeon run because of this is quite annoying.

    It's all part of the 'team challenge'.

    Changing the group behaviour is the easiest solution.
    Check the lever before you leave.
    Announce in chat that "I'll get the lever'
    Stand still and let 'runahead madman' get it

    Yes, I've had to rerun this dungeon for similar reasons.
    And many others....

    I was in the same room as the "madman" the last time. I still didn't get credit. It should not require being on top of the lever.

    I was the madman the next run because I wanted to make sure I got credit.

    Yeah, this dungeon has a few annoyances. Being stuck in combat after exiting the 'escape' door after the final bosses is annoying.

    Did you speak with the lady questgiver after you killed the gargoyle, or is it bugging even if you do that?

    This, totally. While I've had ESO more or less since its release, I didn't start actually playing until a few years ago. But Volenfell is a base-game dungeon, so I'd guess this has been an (unfixed) issue for more years than I've been playing.
    I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

    The best "solution" I've found is to do it solo or with friends/guild mates.

    It's probably a random bug,and would be impossible to find cause,since there's not tons of people complaining about it.I've solo'd and did it in groups many times to fill collections recently and no issues.Like you suggested,only thing they could do it make things complete for whole group if one gets it done,but probably not high priority yet.

    I did that. I was on the "pull the lever part" which I am almost certain is the 2nd of the 2 levers.

    Right, ok. I've done that dungeon so many times it is all now just a blurr. I seem to recall once having the same problem you had. Also the same solution.

    Yes, sadly I just had to solo it to finish the quest on my Arcanist. Same issue, that lever around Tremorscale.

    Nope, I have been complaining about it for years. That bug complaint comes up again and again. Surely, they must've noticed by now!

    I play since 2019 and have run into this bug on every character that I created.

    Part of the ongoing "ZOS needs to update the old dungeons including bugs and quests getting stuck" problem.

    I'm still waiting for the "part II" dungeons for many of the base game dungeons too....

    The part II of dungeons was what we got instead of veteran dungeons at launch.

    It's not random, that lever needs to be puled by the character with active quest to count. If someone with the active quest pulls it it will be good for all questing character in the run, if someone without active quest pulls it all questing character will fail it in that run. So in short, if you have the quest you want to run to that second lever and pull it yourself.

    Completely agree.

    Still needs to be fixed by zos, though, so that the quest is not fubared by non-questers, however well-intentioned.

    Happened to me once, I had the quest and someone else in the group pulled the lever. I had to run the dungeon again and had to make sure I was the one pulling the level.

    This needs be fixed so the quest can be completed no matter who on the group pulls the lever.

    i think this is the issue going on, its not updating the quest if the "lever puller" has no quest to update, but the lever is still required to progress the dungeon

    so either the quest needs to update properly when the lever is pulled, or the step to pull the lever should probably be removed entirely to streamline the quest

    i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

    correct, ive tried soloing the dungeon, and the doors are locked/unable to be opened until you hit the levers

    for speed farming i was soloing and was going to skip straight to tremorscale instead of going through the steam hallway with the levers but the door after tremorscale is still locked so the levers in the dungeon are not optional

    Another fix that would be great is if they fix the Tremorscale bug. If you target Tremorscale before opening the second lever, it blocks progress from the rest of the dungeon and if it doesnt, it blocks progress for the quest

    I’ve reported this bug. Last time I ran this dungeon, the quest did not advance even though the group was together and I watched the player who switched the lever. Yet it was stuck for me and I think others in the group.

    I recently ran through all the dungeons on 2 new toons (arcanists) to get skill points. Certain quests took multiple attempts to get the skill point without bugging out, and Volenfell was one of them. Selene's Web was also terrible. And this was despite knowing the dungeons from having done them all before and having some idea where all the quest objectives would be. I can't imagine what the experience is like for someone new to the game.

    I think I've run the dungeon as a random 3 times trying to get my Necro to 50 and the quest didn't progress 2/3 times as the lever at the end of the steam room as you said didn't progress the quest, I managed to finish it on attempt 3 when I managed to pull it myself. Even if I was in the room as other people pulled it the quest did not go to the next step.
