Anyone else feel like the increase drop rate on nodes during the explorer's event right now feel like this is what the drop rate should be normally?

My spent data allowance prevents me from playing.

But I prefer words like 'double mats' - rather than words like 'increased rate'.

I noticed, too. I do have increase percentage chance of doubling the resources from nodes from Craft CP, but now I can get as much as 10 pieces off one node while before max was 6 or so.

'Double Drop' is pretty self explanatory and definitive.
    'Increased Rate' is just 'more'.
    '2X' is 'Double Drop'.
'X+1' is 'Increased Rate' and while 'more' than any other day, its only double if we routinely get 'one' to start with, and also they can't give us an additional 0.1 of anything.

It lacks a bit of satisfaction for an event when thinking of 'Increased Rate' in the archaic 'Double Drop' terms we were weaned in ESO on.

Neither the event nor Plentiful Harvest actually doubles anything outright (except PH does exactly double alchemy surveys for some reason). What they’re doing in most cases is providing a second roll. That’s why “double” is pretty misleading but “increased” will be correct. Over time the average yield is doubled for events and increased by 50% (or whatever the percentage is in your tooltip) for Plentiful Harvest, but the doubling isn’t happening on a node by node basis.

With blacksmithing nodes, for example, you roll a 3x or 4x for the ore normally. Since it’s guaranteed, Plentiful Harvest always rolls its quoted chance for ore. If it passes that 50% check (or whatever percentage is in your tooltip), the game rolls again for 3x or 4x in the same ratio they regularly drop. You could end up doubling your draw (3x + 3x or 4x + 4x), but you could instead get a 3x + 4x or a 4x + 3x for 7x in total. The possible totals are 3x or 4x (when Plentiful Harvest fails) or 6x, 7x, or 8x (when Plentiful Harvest succeeds). You will never get 5x - not because it’s an odd number, but because it isn’t possible to make a 5 through a combination of rolls consisting only of 3s and 4s.

During an event, the game gives you another guaranteed roll of 3x or 4x and the whole process repeats. That’s how you can get a minimum of 6x (when both the base roll and the event roll are 3s and Plentiful Harvest fails on both) and a maximum of 16x (when both initial rolls are 4x and PH procs on both and both those procs are 4x too). For each node you harvest with Plentiful Harvest during an event, you can get two, three, or four rolls of 3x or 4x in any combination, so you can get any total between 6 and 16.

    Here’s a 16x ore from yesterday:

    ubruuc0gvt1s.jpg

You know this is not a survey pull because the only amounts of ore you can get from a survey node are 18x and 20x, or their combinations when Plentiful Harvest successfully procs (36x, 38x, 40x).

I'm getting increased drop rates for all nodes except that in Craglorn, while all nodes drop more materials, the drop rate for nirncrux hasn't increased (or I just have bad luck).

There is a reason for the change. That is because the increase is additive not a multiplier and doubling is indicative of a multiplier.

It has to do with how Plentiful Harvest works. Notice that during these events that when you farm alchemy you get 3 Mats from alchemy nodes and not 4.

    Doubling = 1×2x2 = 4
    Additive (reality)= 1+1+1 = 3

Nirn drop triggers won't change, but when they do you should have increased drop.

The event definitely doesn’t just double nirn drops. I’ve gotten several 1x nirn this event alone, and since we can’t remove specific quantities, the event clearly isn’t flatly adding another nirn whenever you get one. (It does that for dust from ore nodes, but nothing else that I’ve found.) It should be rolling again so you have another chance to get nirn.

If there were a 10% chance of getting nirn (for the sake of argument - I don’t think it’s that high), you’d have a 19% chance of getting any during an event, but only 1% of that 19% would be 2x nirn. You should get nirn much more frequently, but that “double”/2x drop would only rarely occur. The bonus would be the same in the end as if it did guarantee double: an average of 20 nirn per 100 pulls rather than 10 per 100. (Again, these are example numbers. I don’t know the exact drop chance for nirn. I suspect it’s much lower.)

Now dust from ore nodes works differently but to the same effect: there the game does add a +1 dust whenever you draw dust initially (25% chance), and then Plentiful Harvest can proc on either roll. That results in only 2x, 3x, or 4x dust coming out of an ore node during an event with Plentiful Harvest. Nirn isn’t working that way.

Well, it's not working that way. I saw the increased nirncrux drops during previous 'increased drops' events, and I definitely noticed the difference.

So all I can confirm right now is that the event does provide another roll for nirncrux, and Plentiful Harvest can proc on both the base roll and the event roll, like other mats.

I still don't have numbers on drop rates, sorry. But at least it's not completely immune to the event bonus like Heartwood.

I have noticed that on more than one occasion, that I have got a nirncrux drop when another player has been close by.
Just an observation, I haven't done any science to prove anything.

I have also got it from the pigs. Only once in 7-8 years, but got one nonetheless.

I got a double potent today, and a triple (maybe.... I was in a hurry - it was time to cook dinner and husband isn't patient) fortified....

Yep, daggerback and camels are leather sources, as are welwa, durzog, duneracers/dunerippers, and imps. They are essentially walking clothing nodes for medium armor mats. Anything that gives leather scraps can give Clean Pelt and (in Craglorn) a potent or fort nirn. I got a potent off a camel two days ago and 2x fortified off a daggerback today. I've gotten it off an imp in Aetherian Archive outside of an event as well.

The drop rate for special zone mats (like Cassiterite Sand in Wrothgar and Viridian Dust in Vvardenfell) is much lower off of mobs than from resource nodes, though.

That will also be true of Luminous Ink when that starts dropping next week, according to what I've seen on PTS.

    All mythics are CP160.

ETA: There was a mythic related to harvesting, iirc. I can’t remember at the moment if it was in the patch notes but never implemented. Harvester’s Hope Ring.
