Will replayable quests ever be an option?

No rewards: just the freedom to repeat old content with your main.
I would like to know what other players think about it.

I like that quests remain done, especially when the overland updates to reflect this. I wouldn’t want an option to “undo”.

Now for dungeons it would be nice to have that option because they are repeatable content anyway, and one may have rushed through a quest doing it with a group.

Overall, I think it’s fine as is and another character can be used to experience content again or differently, but if such an option existed, I would use it for some dungeons.

Wouldn't creating an alt serve the same purpose? Or does it have to be with your main, in which case, why?

Some people would like to play with their main character or with their only character. But since one can just create another character to repeat quests. I believe developers will not add this feature in the foreseeable future.

Once my mains have done whatever (they all have done very much different quest lines depending on their backstories) I'm perfectly happy to do some of the quests again on alt characters (all of whom also do differing things depending on backstories).

For me, it's fine the way it is, but it wouldn't matter to me if they made the quests repeatable by those characters who have previously done them. I just wouldn't bother with it myself.

I think the story quests should remain once per character.

Maybe they could add more repeatable daily quests in every zone.

As someone who only plays one character, I would love this option. As we get new content yearly, it's not dire yet, but I live in fear that one day I'll run out of story quests to do. As such, I might even be willing to pay crowns for the option to reset quests.

I'd love this! I don't play alts, so all my time investment is in my main. I'd love to experience a storyline and then revisit it later and re-experience it.

This thread reminds me of this great skit from VLDL:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXEbFaW0ac8

I can see the appeal of wanting to re-do a well-written quest/questline. I doubt they'll actually implement it, but I would not be mad to see it.

I'd enjoy this- I'd actually prefer it to be an optional solo challenge mode that comes with it's own rewards, where the bosses at the end of quests are harder to defeat. Play the regular mode once to unlock challenge mode, but it's optional/not required.
I like that quests remain done, especially when the overland updates to reflect this. I wouldn’t want an option to “undo”.

I don't really see it this way. Once the quest has been done, it remains done. OP isn't really asking for the quests to be undone- all previous rewards and progress would remain on the account. They just want a way to interact with an NPC in a way that initiates the quest line again so that they can go through the motions of the quest a second time without changing anything on their account.

If implemented correctly, restarting would be optional, and it wouldn't affect others accounts or the way quest progression/environmental changes are seen by your characters unless you interact with the "restart" feature.

I'm fine with leaving most of them as one-shots. The big exception that immediately comes to mind is the story quest in group dungeons. If the skill point itself could be made a one-shot with the story mission made repeatable, then I think there would be a lot of players who would be a lot happier for being able to go back and do those at leisure rather than "I got the skill point, but I have no idea what just happened."
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

If I have to speak for myself, I am emotionally attached to my main and I don't want to spend any more time on a new character. One is enough.

Repeatable quests exist in other games, but frankly, I don't think we'll ever have this option. I can only dream.

This is something I'd really like to see, mostly because there are sometimes quests I'd like to revisit without needing to do the whole quest chain again to reach them. This is especially true for quests that somehow change the environment (like one of the ones in the VVardenfell quest line) or have unique locations.

I think it should be accessed via an option of some kind, not something that's on by default, to avoid breaking immersion for people who don't want to see NPCs ask them for a thing you already did.

My only concern with this is, being on console, there is no way to know what quests I not have done unless there is a quest marker on the npc. I have done most of the quests on my main character and I would like to eventually do them all without repeating any.

Okay, I can understand that. I also play my main most of the time, but I have a couple of alts I play when I just want to relax and quest for a while (my main has finished all the story content).

That's not a bad idea. Maybe that would satisfy the "harder overland" folks. Make the quest bosses harder if you're doing the quest for the second (or more) time.

My thought also. Among many other uses, alts are perfect for reliving quest and story experiences you've really liked and would like to go through again. Not only that, a different class and/or build would let you see how the second, or third time around, is different.

I would enjoy it because there is often a lot of time and overhead involved in creating an alt and I already have a few and don't really want more. Plus, there are a bunch of zones and story lines where I feel one particular phase of it is really neat and well-written and would like to see again. Ideally, I could redo some of the Verandis stuff at end of Reach storyline, or Darren stuff at end of Summerset storyline, without having to do the entire zone quest over from scratch. Let me just jump in and relive some of my favorite parts.

I mean, as it stands now, you can buy all sorts of skill upgrades for your alt in the crown store, so I wouldn't be surprised if they felt justified selling quest resets. Of course, alts have many other purposes, so I'd hope it would cost a lot less to reset quests.

In my main game, since some years, quests are repeatable and it's a huge pain. Reason: quest giver NPCs are merchant of special items, but, they sell only if quest is completed. So every times you need an item from a specific vendor, you need first to redo the quest. :s

Now in ESO, it would probably be less a problem, because I believe that quests with completion needed to unlock the use of something are not a majority.

No matter what, personally, I prefer to do things once only (my famous laziness is speaking here of course...).
