    That's odd.

Seems to me that every thread - including this one - that brings up the subject fairly quickly (second post in the incumbent's case) mentions it.

    Am I dreaming this?

Few people take the initiative to criticize fake DPS, but many people take the initiative to criticize fake tanks.
However, fake DPS is more damaging to the ecology, making people unwilling to tank, or forced to use fake tanks to enter the team to avoid being unable to defeat the BOSS.
What's more, many people are not fake tanks. Instead, the battle lasted too long and could not be maintained, or was killed by the mechanism.

On the subject, in my experience this is something that goes away.

Originally 'fake roles' were more of an issue for me; these players may have known the dungeon inside out but I didn't which meant that they were making the whole experience fairly unpleasant.

Furthermore I don't think many people would find the mentality of 'you are just extras in my film and if the game allowed it I would queue for a random daily on my own; you are just ballast, your presence a mandatory irritation the game imposes on me' very agreeable.

Said that, after many years I no longer care.

I get in the dungeon and do my thing - the only part I have any control over - and whether the rest of the players do their thing or not, when it comes to random normal dungeons, doesn't have much bearing on the outcome anymore, only on the duration and to an extent level of irritation (I dislike being endlessly stuck in combat, progressing through the dungeons at 'combat speed' and unable to switch gear).

I never queue as a different role to the one I intend to perform because doing so would create cognitive dissonance - in my personal opinion this practice is inherently deceitful and an imposition of one's goals over everyone else's from the start - and that is grief I could very much do without.

However if other players don't have this handicap or they are happy to deal with it as it arises, you do you. There is nothing I can do about it anyway and ultimately I want to get this done and over with.

I'm not that bothered by fake tanks*, fake healers or fake dps in normal dungeons.
What blows my mind is when you get these fakes appearing in vet DLC dungeons. I really don't understand how someone can have the gall to fake tank dungeons which would kill most inexperienced real tanks and then expect the rest of the party to carry them.
I've also wound up in a PUG with a fake healer who kept wanting to do hard mode in Veteran Depths of Malatar despite the tank regularly dying due to lack of healing.

*PS: If you taunt and hold the boss and you don't die, you're not a fake tank. I don't care how off-meta your build is and you have my respect.

Dear Fake Healers, you're no better than the Fake Tanks that everyone hates, especially when your damage sucks and you aren't good at the game.

I get so tired of seeing all of these threads with everyone complaining about Fake Tanks, but they don't seem to care too much about the Fake Healers. Well this is a two-way street, and s*** runs both ways...

"Just go do Veteran Dungeons because it's only a problem in Normal Dungeons", they said... Well as a Tank, I see Fake Healers in Veteran Dungeons (even Vet DLC!!!) multiple times every single day!

"But I have Matriarch equipped and will heal when you're almost dead", the Fake Healer said... I also have healing and damaging abilities equipped, does that make me a Healer or a Damage Dealer? No, it does not.

I've even had Fake Healers try to blame me and say that I should be using more healing abilities... I'm sorry that I'm not a selfish Tank and I build for group support? I guess maybe the Healers and Damage Dealers should be supplying their own buffs and debuffs???

I've made an addon so that I can keep track of all the Fake Healers and get notified when they're around. So the next time I see them in a Veteran Dungeon I'm voting to kick their sorry self. And if that doesn't work then I'll just leave group and make them wait for another Tank. I'm sorry for the innocent players that lose a Tank, but I'm not dealing with the Fake Healers anymore.

    PS:
If you want to Fake Tank or Fake Heal, then YOU need to go make your own group. It is NOT everyone else's responsibility to make their own group just to avoid toxic players. The Group Finder is relatively new to the game, but the Activity Finder has been around forever. And the whole Fake Tank/Healer problem really only became prevalent after ZOS introduced the Daily Random Dungeon Transmute Crystal rewards.
