Running Sword & Shield, Stamplar.

My pen is 8k right now, my crit %21.
Should I slot puncture to get more pen (~7k)
or
Evil hunter and get my crit up to 33%?

I enjoy bashing and power bashing...

Depends on many things. How high is your crit dmg done. Do you run with others who aleady hand out breach or buff your crit dmg? Do you run sets that proc on crits?

Btw The Pierce armor morph inflicts major and minor breach (~8.9k) and more than doubles your pen. usefull unless you already have a source of that (eg sundered from potl)

Unless you are over-penetrating, Penetration will always provide the highest damage pound-per-pound. However, it provides no other bonus than that. Critical chance and damage/healing obviously not only improves your damage, but also your healing.

If you feel like you need the DAMAGE more, keep puncture, but bear in mind other group members may bring other sources of Major/Minor Breach. Otherwise, go for the crit (and anti-stealth).

Usually I play alone (ungrouped) but yes, do tag along with others.

I am running Order's Wrath to get that 8% extra crit damage.

If I bar puncture and bar swap, is my puncture gone? Btw, I love the sound of puncture
I try to puncture and bash - but feel I am not doing enough damage (running Deadland Demolisher too)Occasionally I can bash someone enough. But they are quite squishy. Otherwise, puncture, bash gesus beem.

I do run a destro staff with a crit of 40%, wonder...should I switch to magplar? I do run power of the light with it, and it give minor breach, I think.

Puncture provides a debuff (Major Breach) on the target that has a timer. It does not require the person who implemented it to stay on that bar. It does mean the user has taunted the boss and will be the focus of their anger until the taunt drops or someone else taunts.

So yes, it stays on the bar for about 15 seconds, and then it must be refreshed. If on PC, add-ons help the user keep track of their taunts.

It says it provides the Sundered status effect, so that would be a source of Minor Breach. One thing worth testing is if it procs Sundered on the first and second instance of damage. The ability doesn't really say and my Templar isn't very high level for me to find out.
