Night Blade Shadowy Disguise Broken?

Sinnfullduck
I've been trying to use the morph Shadowy Disguise which when you first morph it, it gives 70% crit chance. In my character sheet I can see the crit chance go up on spell crit and weapon crit but when I use spells like Strife, it hardly ever crits. It seems like either the crit chance isn't being applied properly or it just doesn't work for certain abilities.

Is anyone else experiencing this and if so do we have a fix for it or any idea what's going on?

I read somewhere that abilities that give crit chance are based off whatever your current crit chance is.
Something like if you have a 5% chance to crit and you pop an ability that gives 100% crit, you now have a 10% chance to crit... Or something like that idk I'm terrible at percentages.

That would make sense but if you look on the character screen it clearly jumps up to 70% but I don't think it's actually doing it. I'd love to get some info on this from ZOS.

I'm skeptical about everything in this game that is based off a %chance. I've failed to improve an item 4 out of the 5 times I tried, when I was suppose to have an 80% success rate...

I doubt that's correct. It was working in beta at least.
edit: does it work for veiled strike?

Veiled Strikes is def working currently.

It's probably a bug on Stife, but I'd be curious to know if its working with other ranged spells, or if maybe it just works with melee.

That's exactly what I'm trying to figure out. I hope it works for all abilities and not just melee or it would be a big disappointment for me. Hopefully someone will have some insight on this soon.

Okay, I figured this would be an appropriate place to post my problem If not i'll make a new thread.

Whenever I use shadowy disguise I get 100% crit chance for weapons. My dual wield works fine, however whenever I use my bow it seems like it's rare for the crit to happen. I can fully charge my dual wielded weapons when I use Shadowy Disguise and get my crits, just not for my bow (all the time) Maybe it has something to do with the passives I put into my bow. I've even tried releasing my bow early to see if the crits happen but they just don't sometimes.

I'm not sure, but it could maybe related to the fact that Arrows and Strife damage their target after breaking out of invisibility, sinds the collision and effect happens after you loose Shadowy Disguise critical buff?
  • shammon22ub17_ESO
Ah that makes sense, but it's still a weapon and should get the bonus effect. However I have gotten critical strikes, just not consistent. Those must be from my passives.

    *Edit*

Just tested it and I can use my shadow ability and get off a critical light attack, but it becomes less likely the more I hold the attack. Again no problems with the dual wield weapons.

It looks like they've gone in and corrected an issue with this ability. When I started this thread it would show 100% spell and weapon crit on the character screen. Now they've changed it so it only shows 100% on weapon crit and nothing else. This would would mean that things like strife will not work with this anymore.

I also think that Brasseurfb had a good point about the weapon stuff. They may have it set up so that you crit bonuses are calculated on contact and not when the button is pressed or released. That would mean that arrows or anything else with a travel time would not work consistently.

Thanks for all the responses guys. Looks like I'll be using the other Morph on this one.
