Playable Dremoras. Just missing a tail and perhaps horns.

So many chapters related to daedra and Oblivion realms, makes me wonder: Why the dremoras aren't a playable race yet?

Not only the latest chapter have been all around that, but we get things like dremora skin, dremora armor, personalities, pets, even eyes!

Since a race might be harder to get, what about adding a tail for body marks and horn for head marks?

Dremora don't have tails, and it would be illogical to have them as a playable race. A lot of concepts in quests, stories, and npc reactions to the Vestige wouldn't make any sense.

Why not? There are plenty of friendly ones and even a faction we helped this expansion.

I don't recall a friendly dremora. It's just that sometimes their goals align with those of the player or they may be bound to serve a mortal.

And the devs have labelled one of them daedra horns.

Which would suggest that they were initially designed for Daedra, playable or not.

There is an Argonian Daedra couple in Blackwood, a related quest to that can be found near Gideon iirc, looked friendly to me

Because the entire main story hinges on the fact that you lose your soul.

Dremora souls don't work the same way as mortal souls. By default, they work similarily to The Vestige player character (funnily enough, they're called Vestiges themselves), but when Daedra die, they're banished to the Void before eventually respawning in Oblivion. They can't absorb skyshards, because they don't have a mortal soul to collect fragments of. They die, their essence returns to the Void, and can eventually be reformed in Oblivion.

Unlike the mortal Vestige, whose entire goal is to reclaim their soul, Daedra/Dremora wouldn't be able to "reclaim" anything, because that's not how it works for them

Looks can be deceiving. Love is frequently used to manipulate people.

I've known many couples who appeared at first to be in love, but as their stories unfolded it was clear that one or both never truly felt that way.

We only saw a glimpse of the characters in the quest, so I'll go with established canon vs a fragment of a story.

I too would like horns (tail optional). We can look like atarochs, dromathra, and all manner of weird skins, I don't see why a horn adornment would be out of bounds

Khajiit + boots that have hooves on them. That’s what I do for my Minotaur. Several hooves to choose from.

Horn adornments though I agree with, because it’s established canon that spirit gum (bug glue) and fake antlers exist. Nothing says we can’t have fake horns on anyone. Except maybe Khajiit, might be hard to stick them on fur.

I don’t agree with the “Vestige can’t be Daedric” idea though. While THE Vestige cannot originally be Daedric and have the original story make sense, it can still work as a Daedric being of peculiar interest is captured and attempted to be enslaved. Either way, maybe it’s my no-longer-a-quester self speaking, but do we really need to balance races around what race would do the quests? I know ESO lore says we’re all the Vestige, as we all respawn, use wayshrines, and can do the main quest, but I think it’s a far stretch. I have like 20 characters, one is my Vestige, the rest aren’t. One of them is a Dremora. If someone cares enough to be annoyed at a Dremora doing overland quests, they’ll care enough to not make their Dremora a Vestige.

Can even require completion of the main quest to unlock the race. (I headcanon my Vestige as becoming more and more Daedric every respawn as a way of Molag Bal trying to distort her anyways.) Either way, it won’t be the first one people pick because it’d totally require purchase.

Dremora as like an alternate start race with no Vestige quest line would be cool. Just a starter zone quest chain where you get ready for your big Nirn vacation.

They could be factionless like Imperials, and their meddling in the various affairs (questlines and PvP) of Tamriel would be fitting.

The biggest thing that would have to happen for it to be cool is for Dremora PCs to have special dialogue that makes them sound condescending as opposed to clueless, maybe some 4th wall stuff when NPCs call the PC "mortal"

Since regular city dwellers have probably never seen a daedra before, I would expect the npcs to either run away screaming when they saw a player who was a daedra or try to kill them on sight.

Probably wouldn’t work too well for quests and merchants.

They don't need to friends of nobody. Let's just say they are against the rise of whatever Prince is trying to conquer Nirn at the moment.
