So I'm here because I've got nothing better to do. As always, please take the tone of this as generally pleasant and constructive. Not here to be all trollie... though the desire is strong to do so tonight.
I'm rollin AD in Gray Host. Queues are upwards of 60 on a boring weeknight if you get in early - like 5pm CST on the dot. Any later than that and you're EASILY dealing with 80+.
Nowadays, it takes roughly 2-3 hours to get through an 80 queue during primetime.
But we have two problems that interrupt this math:
1 - if you port ANYWHERE in the game. If you do ANYTHING other than stand perfectly still, your queue position is likely to bug out. It will report as though you are ... say ... just for example ... 21 or even 1 for eternity but not let you know that you're not actually
in queue anymore. You've been booted.
2 - Once you do get in, the lag is still so atrocious, Cyro is near-unplayable with anything more than about 20 total people (across all factions) in the same area.
SOooo... I'd like to request this:
Can we just ditch the max-char count limitation on Gray Host? I mean, if it's unplayable with 20, why not let us play unplayable with hundreds eh?
AND can we get the queue fixed so I can actually port around & do stuff while I wait?
Or could we (crazy) possibly get a system that lets me queue
by account rather than by character? I would LOVE to be able to log in & out of currently queued char to do things like daily writs or to grab gear from another char or to run a random normal... etc. etc.
Hell, RIP me out of whatever char I'm on and log me into the one I queued as! I'm fine with that. Just so I don't waste 2-3 hours of my evening waiting on queue. (edited to remove negative attidude)
Also, can we maybe get a little more flexible in the char-count in faction vs. faction? The skill gap between players is SO HUGE these days that limiting alliances by pure count is no longer an accurate measurement of "fairness".
I think all honest people here would admit that they know a few folks who can 1vX like crazy and a few folks who can't even survive well in a full-alliance zerg. I'm not calling anyone out and I do believe ALL of these people (yes, ball groups included) should be permitted their spots in Cyro. But surely we can all agree that it's not whether or not your faction has 100 players online - it's
very much about
which 100 players you have online.
These are not
solutions. I know. But I do think they'd be bandaids. Personally, if I'm gonna lag my ass off, I'd rather lag like crazy in a 300 v 300 v 300 battle.
My only other suggestion is: maybe y'all should go back to on-prem solutions with dedicated hardware rather than VMs. And / or dedicate some servers to Cyro and force reboots.
Spend some time & money on Cyro, ZOS. It's easily THE most unique quality ESO has. Every other game I play has something that at least mimics or outdoes everything else in ESO. Even if you disagree with that, it's top-five in uniqueness.
Capitalize on it Cyro! Let me spend money on you all! Just feels like Cyro has been utterly ignored for a long time.
Come test on live servers again! Let's do this! How can I / we help?
Truth be told, I've written this diatribe in the time I've gone from 71 in queue to 43. About 30 minutes, if I had to guess.
So now I'll go find some other game to play while I wait my turn to lag like crazy.
