Do you have to be logged in to Forums for views to count?

I was reading some of the posts today, as I do everyday, including the Polls.

I rarely sign in though to read them. As I looked at the number of Views on some and the Replies, I thought it seemed like a really low amount of players 'watching' the forums compared to the thousands of players in game. And being the curious person that I am, I wonder how many players NEVER look at the forums? It seems ESO could get a really accurate account of how much folks REALLY liked the event by having a Poll set up at Login somehow.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

It's generally believed that all game forums are watched and commented on by a tiny minority of players, whether logged in or not. Forum polls are therefore pretty poor evidence of what players feel about something, and if ZOS wanted to get a reliable account of players' views then a poll that popped up on the launcher would be a far better way to go.

It makes sense to me that only a minority of players would visit the forum. I've played dozens of games, probably a few hundred, and I've signed up to forums for 4 games/series, plus 1 Discord channel. I only do it when there's a lot of things I want to ask or discuss about a game. If it's a one-off question I'm more likely to just search for an answer online or use a site I'm already on and hope someone knows the answer rather than seeking out a new community. Most games I just play and don't feel the need to talk about that much, especially with random people online.

I suspect most people are similar. It wouldn't surprise me if the majority of ESO players don't know this forum exists and a large chunk of those who do never look at it.

It's nice to have a place to discuss the game and get updates and additional info (especially things I wouldn't even know to look for) but it definitely shouldn't be considered a definitive representation of the whole playerbase.

... and a lot of people who consider joining the forum probably get discouraged from it by how difficult ZOS makes it to join the forum. With many other forums, you can just subscribe using an email and password, and you're in, but not this one.

This forum is a fragment of a fragment of the ESO population.

For a multitude of reasons that I'm not going to list, many players have either never interacted with the forums, or no longer participate.

Reddit appears to have some level of engagement, with several posts each month getting 1k+ upvotes. Unsure about Twitter or other socials.

I assume most play without ever engaging online at all.

You'd be surprised and disappointed at the number of players I've met that are completely unaware of the forums existence
