Maintenance for the week of January 27:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – January 27

Well this downtime is disgusting

So I decided to get the event mount, needing 25 items. On the 24th, I had 21. The price for extra items is pretty ridiculous, 750 crowns each. (How much would it cost to buy 25 times 750 crowns?) So I decided to get up early, before the event ended at 7AM PST, to get two more, and then buy the last two for 1500 crowns and get the mount.

I saw that they inconveniently had a downtime at reset at 3 AM, but how long would that last? 30 minutes, 60, maybe 90? It's a four hour window, so should be fine by 5AM or 6AM.

So I get up early - and it's still down. It's 6:30 AM now - 30 minutes left - and it's still down.

A four hour (or longer) downtime? Right over the last part of the event? Days of collecting items lost for this? It's disgusting service.

Couldn't agree more. They extend the event then take the server down for the final hours that remained for us to get our final three tickets.... make that make sense. Big giant face palm....

It was actually just barely possible to get those tickets in the final minute before the servers went down.

This maintence NEEDED TO HAPPEN. So we people who have been locked out for 10 DAYS + CAN PLAY AGAIN. Y'all have been able to play the full event + the EXTENDED TIME. We have had nothing for 10 DAYS. This maintence needed to happen.

I totally agree. Doesn’t change that ZoS messed up, yet again. Either should have promised just 1 extended day (so it ended yesterday and people budgeted tickets properly) or 3 extended days so unlocked accounts could do SOMETHING during the event. Or done maintenance Wednesday and pushed console to Thursday to unlock accounts earlier.

There were options and they chose the worst one.

It started at 6 am on the NA server, usually the majority (don't come at me with the time zone thing I'm in Europe and play on NA) are sleeping or at work. People have a fear of missing out on something that wasn't there in the first place and tbh, had plenty of time to buy with tickets. There wasn't anything in the impresario apart from cake and confetti. People are complaining for the sake of complaining at this point! I feel so bad for zos tbh, they did right for those of us locked out but can't win!

Just want to say that there was also the grab bag in the impresario, for those who haven't been around for past events.

I decided to try to get online before the event ended today, because I wanted the extra tickets and more grab bags, but didn't get them because of maintenance.

Also, not everyone who wasn't locked out has the ability to play every single day, so there might have been things they were trying to get but couldn't afford due to only being able to get three tickets per day.

I personally am not upset about missing out on the last day, though it would have been nice to get those three extra tickets and maybe two grab bags, since this is my first jubilee. But I can understand why others are, especially if they already felt they wouldn't be able to make their goals, seemed to be given two extra days to achieve them, and then are told 'sorry, you don't actually have two extra days'. It is the whole disappointment, no wait, hope!, no, sorry, still disappointment cycle.

The problem is, as soon as I do this, I'll never look back to the game. I've experienced it with another MMO before - the moment I unsubscribed I stopped playing altogether, even though that wasn't my intention before.
So I'd rather say something now, than let it get to this point. ;)

I feel bad for zos too, but it’s really of their own doing. This is a small thing, but why not start the maintenance at 10am after the end of the event, which they extended and specifically announced would last until Thurs at 10am? Or at least make another announcement, with at least a few days notice, saying “Due to unforeseen circumstances the event will be ending on Thursday at 6am due to needed server maintenance….” Or whatever. Instead, people have to see that the server will be offline starting at 6am and deduce that the event will be over at that point as well. I wonder how many people even know that the server will be offline, until they try and get on this morning. I wonder how many people were counting on one last confetti piece to get their mount. All this controversy was so avoidable.

What time do you believe the "industry standard" is lol? Because this is the industry standard time so nice try. Maintenance has always been around this time of day when it starts so you may want to do some research before making such comments. Also, you think devs are going to come in at midnight to do downtime? Nope, and they shouldn't. This is not a critical service, it is merely entertainment.

As for paying customers, you accept the EULA when you play so it's all in there that their will be downtime. Some regular maintenance and some emergency. IT HAPPENS!

Does it suck, sure. Know what sucks more, all of those players affected that haven't been able to play in over a week. Luckily I wasn't affected but I feel bad for those players. They are also paying customers who have not had the ability to play in 10 days so I think you can wait 8 hours. Stop being so selfish and self-entitled.

That said, as for the event, ya that was bad planning to extend it but then extend it into the emergency maintenance but they likely didn't have a set date while working on the issue on the back end and today just happened to be when both matched up. Hopefully they will extend the event until tomorrow morning to make up for it, but it was still already extended once so who knows. The locked out players take priority at this point to get them back in the game asap.

1.) The scheduled maintenance on Monday was patch maintenance to fix some of the recent bugs, and was very likely already scheduled prior to the PTS situation (i.e., it would have happened regardless of the PTS problem).

2.) Today's maintenance was their planned [and hopefully] final step in fixing all of the things that occurred with the PTS situation.

1 and 2 were not related. Your joke was baseless.

Yeah, this maintenance needed to happen, and it needed to happen as soon as possible, but I'm still annoyed by the timing of it, because the event ended before the maintenance did.

For me personally it's no big deal, it literally just means I'll be finishing the event sitting on 9 tickets instead of 12, since I had planned my purchases from the impresario based on when the event was supposed to end, not knowing that maintenance would prevent me from getting those last tickets. Not a big issue, I don't really care.

What actually does bother me about this is that the event ended before people like you who were locked out were able to get back into the game. That means that although the PTS exiles are receiving pretty decent compensation including many of the things you could get during the event, they still missed out on their chance to buy anything they might have wanted to buy from the impresario.

So yeah, I'm annoyed at the timing of the maintenance and the end of the event. Not because it's not fair to me, but because it's not fair to you and others in your situation. They should have done this maintenance a day earlier if possible. If not possible, they should have extended the event by another day so you guys would have a chance to get a few more tickets and shop at the impresario.

A four hour (or longer) downtime? Right over the last part of the event? Days of collecting items lost for this? It's disgusting service.

to be fair here, ZOS disclosed from the start that you would need to use event tickets to obtain at least 5 of the jubilee pieces to get the mount. event ran with enough time to still do that, unless you were locked out of your account. the extension provided enough time for that to still happen.

there were plenty of tickets out there, more than 60 spending 12=15 on getting the items should not have been all that hard.

the maintenance needed to happen most definitely, but i still feel that waiting till the even was over and done would have been a better option.

lthat said, we still DID get at least 1 more full day out of the event. which more than made up for the hours of initial downtime for us that were not locked out.

If not possible, they should have extended the event by another day so you guys would have a chance to get a few more tickets and shop at the impresario.

i mean i agree, after 10 days, what would have been the harm in waiting to start maint 4 hours later?

lthat said, we still DID get at least 1 more full day out of the event. which more than made up for the hours of initial downtime for us that were not locked out.

in the end its still a fair deal.

I think you missed my point. It's fine for me, but it's not a fair deal for the PTS exiles who need this maintenance, because they missed out on their opportunity to buy anything they wanted from the impresario.
