Import Settings from multiple characters

I have 4 alts, one of each class and I constantly switch between them for crafting, the way it is right now each character has a different Settings configuration (controls, chat, video, etc.) and it's painfully annoying to rebind every key, recolor every chat channel for all my 4 alts, is there a way to import those settings from my main character to my alts?

Same here. Or is there a way to set controls for all characters at once? Everything else is bound to the User ID, why not the settings?

I'm sure you can get/make an ad-on that can do this. But I have no skill in that but maybe someone can make that kind of thing.

Yes it is slightly annoying... but should this be what devs should be working on?

I'm betting you changed group chat color to blue, emote color to an orange, whisper color to a purple and maybe zone chat to a light pinkish.... Maybe your just wanting familiar settings?

My suggestion... Stop playing an MMO the same way you always do and be happy the devs are working on expansion and patches with serious meat in them.

Sometimes I honestly can't believe the crap I read on the internet. The ability to have settings stay the same between characters is going to destroy the game? Seriously?

If that is what you took out of that comment.... You should probably read the posts above so you can understand the context of that statement...

And if you still don't understand... I'm sorry

Nonetheless, the overall viewpoint being put forward is not to have a single feature that is anything like a single feature in WoW (you know that blisteringly popular and successful of MMOs) because that would somehow make the game fail.

Actually, WoW doesn't have that feature. I think I saw it only in Rift and TOR?

Settings export/import, or some equivalent means to apply settings to alts, is fairly standard in online games. I was a little surprised ESO doesn't have it.

Frankly I have a hard time seeing that as a major development-distracting project that would somehow derail other projects. Lets be realistic here, and only make such claims if we know what we're talking about.

At work now, but has anyone looked into My Documents if there is a ZOS folder with character profiles? I know in some games you can simply copy those and rename them

    No.

There's a file with general settings, but not per-character settings like chat window tabs.

Let me say this my thick-skulled friend:

Every... and I mean EVERY MMO that has modeled itself after the "blisteringly popular" WoW.... has failed.

Think about that as you go back and read my comment again... then read it again... and then read it one more time until you actually get the point behind what I am saying.

Dude, stop trolling and derailing my thread. All I want is that I dont have to rebind 40 keys (I'm left-handed and I play with uhjk), recolor all 5 guild chats so they dont all look the same every time I start a new character. This is standard for every game that allows you to have multiple characters in an account, I'm completely baffled on why you are mentioning WoW, I never even played it.

This. C'mon, I bet I remap a third of my keys. Every time I create an alt I groan.

Why do people even involve WoW? It doesn't have this feature

    Anyways:

OT: At least it allows you to copy all the settings from one character to another very easily since they are stored in the game folder.

I think if there was a file currently available for copying, the devs or one of the moderators would have told us. I do know they read this forum.

Very seriously, though, this is critical - particularly when it was anticipated the player would create 8 characters - and possibly more if they decide to increase the number of character slots.

    Critical.

Handy? Yes. Important? I could see that. Critical? Uh, no.

I have a similar issue. I just did what I needed to get it done.

I also figure that as I get more used to the game and the way it works, I will be making more changes. Some specific to a character and some shared by more than one of them.

Fair enough, but I assume you're not remapping a third of the keyboard, plus mouse settings? And, of course, "I did what I needed to get it done." I wouldn't be playing the game if I hadn't.

You could say the same about, oh, auction houses, FOV sliders, and every other request on the forum. All those whiner's that didn't get their game? That surely isn't critical.

In fact, we should just have Zenimax take a couple weeks vacation because, you know, nothing's really critical unless you're bleeding from an open wound ...

Some people on this forum will respond to literally any suggestion with "the game is fine the way it is, don't make it like WoW." Even when it doesn't make sense, like this thread here. It's actually pretty funny.

This would be a common sense addition.
