Crown Tri-Restoration Potion but not able to extract into gems

I have over 800 potions yet I can't use them for this. Why not? I don't understand.

You need 5 crown potions to create 1 crown gem. You seem to have 1 crown potion only.

Just use the other non crown crate potions, that's what they are for. Better than buying them from the Crown Store, which you shouldn't do. You get plenty in daily rewards anyway. Just sell to merchants the gash potions which you pick up playing the game. As every one has said you can only convert Crown Crate items. BTW the Crown Crate items are highlighted with the mini gem icon.

It's very clear, and always has been. Or at least it should be to someone who has been playing the game for eight years.

The vast majority of your potions came from Daily Rewards or the Crown Store itself, not Crown Crates.

      Why does that matter?

Crown gems were added as a consolation prize for bad RNG. You want Item X from crown crates, you open 500 crates and still don't get it. Result is an angry customer who may never buy another crown crate. But with crown gems, you will eventually get enough gems to buy what you want, even if you have bad luck. But there is no luck involved with directly buying potions or getting them from daily reward login. To differentiate between "bad luck potions" and directly obtained potions, ZOS put a little purple gem icon next to items that can be converted to gems. From screenshot, only 1 of your potions has a gem icon next to it, and that is only one that can be converted to gems. Although, due to converting in batches of 5, the 1 stray crate potion is not enough yet to convert.

Crown gems are more like a bait for the sunk cost fallacy instead of a consolation prize. The quantity of those are so disproportionate for when you get the filler items intended for trashing or duplicates that's it's straight up insulting towards their user base.

And it's not like being able to salvage the daily crown filler items would drown us in gems, it would be what tops 50 a month max?

We would all love for the daily login rewards to be convertible into Crown Gems. I have many, many more of those particular potions than you do, and it would be awesome if I could convert them and reclaim that inventory space. "One Day" I'll start using them, because they would probably be a huge help in PvP or PvE boss fights.

I've been able to buy quite a few Non-Combat Pets, and even an occasional Mount, from the Crown Gems I've been able to extract from unwanted Crown Crate items over the years-- and I've never actually bought Crown Crates, except indirectly on one or two occasions when I participated in those "buy another player some Event Tickets and get some Crown Crates as a reward" offers. The vast majority of my Crown Gems have been obtained from free Twitch drops. I'm not saying you're wrong about the small conversion numbers, just saying that they do add up over time.
