Crown Store Gifting Denied

I put in a request to enable gifting last week and it was denied. I replied to the denial like it said but haven't heard back. It pisses me off. I'm not exactly active, but I do log in daily, collect my rewards, and list stuff in my guild trader. I've been playing since shortly after console launch, I have more than 13k hours played, I keep up with my guildmates through discord and on twitch, and back xbox gold giveaways for some twitch streamers, I am an active member of the ESO community. I have taken a step back from being a "fully active player" in the last year due to financial and medical hardship. But that really shouldn't matter. I've been playing for years, have no actions ever taken against me, there's no reason to suspect that I would try to scam in any way. <snip>

I do wonder if one of the red flags they use is trading - if you're not that active but still sell maybe they look at that as more likely to be a scammer.

I put in a request for my alt without much hope for it, I don't use it much apart from logging in for daily rewards, and minimal event participation when there's shinies I particularly like. It was approved on the first try tho, so it makes me think being refused is more about things you're doing that stuff you're not doing

I had a similar message with one of my accounts - I don’t use it a huge amount, but I still log in a couple of times a week. I had some crowns on that account that I wanted to share with my main.

Bear in mind, this is an old account and used to have gifting enabled before they switched it off for a while.

The message was “I need to be more active in the community”.

Like, I’ll be as active as a damn well please, thanks very much!

I don't think this is about things you're doing. In order to combat serious fraudulent activity, they put criteria in place that they aren't sharing (so that the criminals don't have a published checklist).

I'd strongly suggest a polite request to have your ticket escalated. With a good look at your account, hopefully they can easily tell you are not a risk.

It sucks, I know. This was their solution to allow gifting to be turned back on after it was disabled for everyone. It ain't pretty but hopefully it's working, which is good for all of us at the end of the day.

    Good luck to you!

Someone else posted that their accounts that had eso+ were able to gift and those of theirs that did not could not gift.

The assumption by ZOS is probably that if you don’t sub, you don’t have crowns to gift. I don’t know if this applies to you.

It was some time back now, but I was subscribed to ESO+ for years and still got declined multiple times before I was allowed to gift. I just kept replying to the ticket over and over again, asking them to escalate and look at my account again. They even informed me it was a no and that my ticket was closed on two occasions, but if you reply it reopens it, so I just continued. Got there in the end. Just be persistent.

Their gifting system is flawed, instead of actually fixing that flaw, they're treating everyone as suspicious unless you can prove otherwise. Unless they have actual cause to suspect that someone is or will exploit the system, they shouldn't deny access to it. They're distrustful of even their most loyal and consistent player base, it's not just me that has been denied, some of guildmates who are still very much active in the end game raiding community and raid several days a week. It's insulting. That's just how I feel about it.

I had the same experience. I purchased a second copy of the game specifically for trading. I listed all of the overflow from my main account PLUS stuff I would have sold to a vendor or destroyed because it wasn't useful to me and it wouldn't sell for a great deal. These items (Green recipes, racial motifs, done to death gold prior event pages) are useful to new people coming into the game. I put them up on traders for a few gold, utilizing the trader slots facilitated by the second account.

I had the second account subscribed to plus. I would use the crowns earned on the second account to buy housing furniture, plants, etc, to feed my housing addiction on my main account.

After the crown gifting debaucle. I requested the ability to gift crowns so I could use them on my main account. I was told I (the second account) wasn't an "active part of the community" so no, I could not have crown gifting back.

    >:)

Go figure. Needless to say that account is not longer plus.

During all this ten years, despite having spent thousands of dollars in Crown Packs, buying ESO+ for my main account and ten alternate accounts I have been denied gifting for the second time to all my accounts. So, how should I say how I feel? Mistreated? Unimportant? Just a money feeder for ZOS? I was really planning into upgrading all my accounts to Gold Road (some of my alternates have been upgraded up to High Isle and Necrom) assuming they enabled gifting so I can use my crowns in order to buy some items for my main account. Now, I believe it's a distant thought and probably move on to another game.

Just to give you a perspective: recently I have been scammed out of 12 500 000 gold by a person, who had an ESO+ active and they had been a 2200+ CP level (I might misremember, but they also had a Cloudrest skin I think, which might mean they are an avid PVEer). So I would assume they have at least 1000 hours spent in the game, likely much more.

That seemed to me sufficient to believe this person to be trustworthy enough and they wouldn't want to risk all of that for a meager sum of 12 mil gold (personally, I would never have gambled that amount of playtime for gold). Apparently I was wrong, and as far as I understand that person was suspended for 2 weeks after my ticket but then released, so the scammer went unpunished for the most part (they were on my friend list, so I could check their last online status).

I should say that I was ready to trade for 25 mil gold initially, but decided to split the deal out of abundance of caution. So I might have as well lost 25 mil there. If you buy a house from such a person, you risk 50+ mil gold with current conversion rate on EU. These sums are pretty big that some people would leave a game if they were scammed like this. So, as you can see, greed is a powerful thing, and apparently there are people who would risk their accounts with many hours spent if they deem that the reward is big enough.

My daughter has ESO+. SHe couldn't gift. She put in a request to have it turned on and was denied. She's had an account for years and has had EDO+ for years. I have no idea how any of these decisions are made.

    She's appealing.
