I haven't played ESO for many months now for multiple reasons that I won't go into.

But because I've loved it so much over many years (since inception) I've stayed up to date via the forums. I've kept the game updated whenever there's a change even though I haven't logged in.

So I feel for those who have lost <enter losses here>. I remember the time it takes to get whatever it is one might want.

But in reading the forums for the past 3/4 days especially, I'm reminded that 'ZOS' is not a thing. It's a group of dedicated people who have chosen to work this 'job' however rewarding or unrewarding it may be. And over my lifetime, in all of my careers I remember how myself and others on whatever team I was on had to jump through the hoops whenever there was a downtime in production. Regardless of what it was.

As a human being in a job, we have to take care of said job. Needless to say, I know. But people also have to suddenly jump and make arrangements perhaps for family issues. Taking care of children, parents perhaps, or just taking care of self with resting enough to maintain a clear head. I don't know whether any ZOS people have children OR families. But my goodness, we in this community are all Human Beings. If I was able, I would be volunteering to do whatever it took to help them get through this situation and from so many of the Supportive comments and indications of Patience from other Forum Members, it's obvious (thank goodness) that others here feel the same way.

Unless of course, we lose sight of the fact that this game is NOT real life, that the game is provided to us by various means, BY other folks.

That's just my opinion. I feel for the devs, and ALL of those who are trying to get the issues fixed. And it seems obvious to me that there are many many other players who probably feel the same way.

I think this is a great game with many good folks playing and those MAKING it so it can be played and great. I hope I will be able to start playing again soon. (I really miss foraging! ;)

Daiyanae I could not possibly agree more.

When this is over everyone on ZOS end should take a break and have some time to just relax. Because whatever direction has been set is not working out very well. So slow down, 'chill' as they say and let's have everyone sit down around a kitchen table and talk about the things that really need to addressed.

So with that said, I would like to give a big Thank You to the Devs, as well as everyone at ZOS for all of your hard work and time on our behalf. I'd also like to thank my fellow gamers for your support as well, including fellow forum posters.

Yeah, as someone who used to be responsible for mission critical systems, my first thoughts were of empathy for the staff who were responsible for the error and those who have to fix it.

They have surely had a brutal week whilst already in "crunch time" for the upcoming chapter launch.

I think if someone is unhappy playing ESO, they should take a step away to gain perspective. I took a break for a few years and came back with a much better attitude. Nothing that happens in the game can really get me down. I regret taking it so seriously in the past.

I also feel sorry for the ZOS employees, but I don't feel sorry for whichever higher-up made the awful decision to have three events running simultaneously: the Anniversary Jubilee, the TG/DB promotion and whatever was happening on the PTS. It's exhausting as a player - it must be horrible for the staff.

Imagine if we could just have farmed our boxes and rare style pages for the 20 days. Maybe, without their attention diverted elsewhere, the devs might have seen the complaints about the drop rate and done something about it. Who knows?

Then we could have moved on to the free/cheap DLC, with newer players doing the guild quests and getting the special rewards at their own pace, without worrying about missing out on boxes or the style page grind.

"What's next? Oh, some Youtubers have posted videos about the PTS. That looks interesting! Maybe I'll download it myself and have a peak - there's nothing else happening at the moment."

Doing it this way would have been more fun for players and far less stressful for ZOS employees, with less likelihood of things going wrong due to staff being spread too thin. Hopefully "Awful April" will forever remind the ZOS board to consider employee wellbeing, the player experience and quality assurance as well as short-term profits.
It's a tradition, or an old charter, or something...

There is a lot of entitlement in the forums. Sometimes complaints are justified, and sometimes they are just really unreasonable or sound like petulant demands. Lately it's mostly veering towards the latter, and there's a general sentiment of 'I want everything now just because I'm a customer/I want to achieve everything easily just because I'm a player'. At the end of the day, engaging with something in the game is completely up to the player, and this goes for subjecting oneself to a RNG grind as well.

    ^^^ This 100%

I cannot imagine how much stress everyone at ZOS dealing with this must be under.

My problem with ZOS is not the problems that occur per se but with the lack of communication, or, I should say, the slow, if ever, communication. Sure, they have job stress. Most, if not all, real jobs have some sort of stress in them. Being in health care can be life-altering or even life-and-death. So no pass from me for a job being stressful. Sure, I believe those that work on the game are passionate about it and care very much about it, but I do about my job as well, as I am sure others do.

They have made $2 billion off the game so far. Sure, it probably costs hundreds of millions of dollars to make and millions more to maintain each year. Have no problem with them making money; after all, that’s what a business is supposed to do. I do have problems with what appears to be a lack of some of that extra money being put back into the game to make it better.

I do empathize with them the workers who are doing the grunt work and those that are the face that do get a lot of negative feedback but again some of it is deserved because of lack of communication.

Sorry if I sound overly negative, but as a console player, I feel we are second class citizen’s to ZOS. [snip] Don’t see the passion for us at all. Just my 2 cents.

    Stay safe :)

Well said, and I concur. I, too, would love to have the opportunity to do remote work for pretty much any company in need of customer service and/or data entry. There seems to be a dire need for it in multiple fields, from what I see.

I don't know if I missed something on the forums, but I wouldn't say the feedback here was bashing devs. Yes, some of it was harsh and maybe over the board, but it wasn't unreasonable or outright bad.

In the first place, devs themselvs aren't reading this, unless they want to. That's what community managers for, they process the community reactions and provide a second level feedback to the company.

So unless players go out of their way and start finding devs personal e-mails, facebook pages etc and start messaging them there (which would be going over the board but something I have seen happened in other games way too often), then I would say devs are mostly insulated from somewhat harsh opinions. Which is a good thing too.

So I hope TESO community is not like that and that they keep to official channels of communication.
