Possible one week account lock out?

@ZOS_GinaBruno

I read the update.

"On Monday, April 22, we have patches scheduled for both PTS and PC NA/EU. Once those maintenances are complete, we will discuss the best and soonest time to schedule the downtime needed on PC NA to perform the actual rollbacks and subsequently, unlock all remaining accounts. We’ll let you know as soon as possible when plans are solidified but expect it to occur early next week. Additionally, the items we plan to grant to these accounts will be delivered at a later date, which we’ll announce as soon as we know."

What ever happened to 2-3 days? So some of us are going to be left without a usable account for over a week? I suspect that the PTS server was brought up first because there is launch date attached to Gold Road. Business wise, it wouldn't go over well with customers, or investors, to roll back a launch date so getting the PTS up would be a priority-- you did emergency shutdowns and maintenance for that and the live server.

Please consider doing it for these accounts before this Monday maintenance. Right now, while I can understand the business decisions, I feel that is the only basis for the decision, and not customer service. We are missing out on the event and all of the things that come from it - we are now into the fourth day without access.

Please consider revising your compensation package.

The account code you provided is of little comfort for those of us who have core teams. What are we going to do with a level 1 character? My account is specifically not accessible on two platforms (PC and Xbox), and I have core teams on both.

@ZOS_GinaBruno What about missed days for daily login btw? Was really looking forward to the costume but I'm also curious if that will be affected as well

What about missed raid cores for achievements like mind mender swashbuckler supreme and planesbreaker. I’m going to miss another 2 days where my group is close to getting mindmender and there seems to be no end in sight with the account lock. On top of that I can’t even use the code for necrom I got because the access code doesn’t come in the mail when I try to log onto the live server.

I appreciate the compensation package I do. I personally am not really into cosmetics but it's the thought that counts.

But over a week for a locked account is extremely rough. Especially a weekend added...

And once again for your beta tester that are giving free QA for the next patch (which I'm still doing from the free account mind you).

We all have our own reasons on why this is extremely inconvenient (I was very close to #1 on the cyrodiil leaderboard to get Emperor in Blackreach).

But we're also confused about why some accounts are being unlocked without rollbacks and some require the server down time and rollbacks? Talked to people on PTS that have their account back already.

And then the current status is we'll give you more information in 3 DAYS.

I understand the initial expectation was Friday and I'm sure you guys have run into additional issues... But this is rough from a customer standpoint. A customer that has been apart of this community for 10 years.

Well, like they said, the roll back is complicated and they want to get it right. I am going to guess that you don't want them to mess up something and have to relock all the accounts and fix them again. It could happen.

My friend got his account back and is still missing the character on live that was deleted on the PTS to make room. This implies they didn't actually do any sort of rollback on the accounts that were returned. Also pretty concerning for the people that got their accounts back already, who may now be missing characters/items and still potentially he subject to a rollback whenever they get to their aforementioned downtime window.

Hence the reasoning behind the compensation. There is less than 4 days left on the Event which means it will end on Monday. On Monday we will have downtime for the Patches and after that they will fix whatever broke leading to more downtime when they do the rollback to get the accounts unlocked. The compensation ensures that most people get what they could have gotten from the Event had none of this happened minus purple boxes and adding a massive amount of Seals. Everyone is frustrated in their own way which is understandable. Mine is just wanting my main account back. I have been using an alternate account that I made for myself in 2016 to test out the PTS. I got the code and all that but did not use it as I did not want a 3rd account.

What I would like them to do, and what is expected these days, is an actual real timeline they are going to stick to - which hasn't happened. The PTS server took priority over their current customers. Getting item sets and gold out of the live server and economy as a priority is little comfort to those who sit here waiting for their accounts to be unlocked when they did nothing wrong. They already identified which backup they would roll back to -- then enough already and do it.

The PTS was up for how long? an hour? The time to care about the PC economy has come and gone. PC economy blew up years ago compared to other platforms and there is no rolling it back. This is what happens when gold for a game can be purchased with real currency.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn’t a roll back of the affected accounts automatically remove anything that was linked over to the live server? If they need to go through each and every affected account to remove anything carried over, then why the need for a roll back?

I am beginning to think that they are trying to figure out how to roll back the individual accounts and have not found a way to do it, hence the rolling ‘it will be a few more days.’

Seriously beginning to worry that I will never get my main account back.

It would only remove anything that was on the account being rolled back, meanwhile the player could have transferred gold and items to other accounts. Before rolling back an account ZOS need to follow the trails from that account and remove everything that shouldn't be there.

Or at least that Is how I imagine it to be!

Simplest solution would have been an immediate roll back of all ESO accounts the day or day after this went down. That would have wiped most of the damage caused by cheaters taking advantage of a very bad situation but players didn't want that so this saga is going to drag on and on for a week maybe longer.

In the end they had better provide all of us a complete explanation of what happed and why and then they need to take the necessary steps to prevent it from ever happening again as if it does tons of players will quit because all of this stress over a game is not healthy and not worth continuing to play.

There are various reasons why some players would have preferred a full server rollback, but it's difficult to see how a decision that would have been unfair to everyone would have been better than one that was only unfair to some. Nonetheless, what the players thought of the alternative solutions was irrelevant as ZOS had made the decision before most players started discussing it - or in many cases were even aware of what had happened as it unfolded overnight for them.

Hey man. Hope you get it soon. I had a friend who is a double mindmender now because someone missed. They went back and got it for the guy who missed. Took them like 2-3 days to repeat it. I think most raid groups do this for their members. Usually the group is hot coming off the tri, and they are less worried about the no death so it's less pressure in a way which makes repeating it a bit easier. Not a single of the 11 other members left the dude behind.

Anyway best of luck future mender of the minds.

ZOS could have as much time as they wanted to go thru the accounts with a fine tooth comb to see if anyone did that and then take appropriate action. Meanwhile the rest of us, who did nothing wrong, could have access to our accounts. The gold or whatever they may have absconded with is in game as we speak, and we are not.

If a decision was unfair to everyone the same way, my guy, that is literally the definition of "fair".

If everyone were simply just rolled back, it would have just been a simple task of copying the backup database into the live database, the Live servers would have been back up within like 2 hours (for an effective 11 hour downtime since the rollback time), players would still have plenty of time to redo their Endeavours and collect their Jubilee boxes from writs and all that, and the only compensation needed for players was a 1 day extension of the event and an audit to restore lost event style pages that players had grinded so hard for within that 11-hour period. No individual account downtime, no one missing out on event activities and loot that others have access to, no PTS gold and loot dispersed into the economy, no 16,000 Seals of Endeavour being rewarded to certain people, none of that fuss.

That's the most efficient and fair way they could have possibly dealt with the situation, but nooooooooo.

Don't take what I say the wrong way. Maybe ZoS stated a couple of days? (I haven't been paying attention so I really don't know). But just by doing some basic linear algebra it was pretty easy to see there was absolutely zero chance they could sus out every account in just a couple of days.

Off the top of my head? When they enabled movement of characters around on the character creation/login screen, when they allowed players to shortcut skills and wayshrines etc on alts, and very early on when they dropped the mandatory subscription and then introduced One Tamriel. Actually, even before that they responded to beta feedback by introducing Cadwell's silver and gold quests to enable players to access other alliance content. All of those things came about through listening to the community, and doubtless there are other things too, while of course they won't implement everything different sections of the community ask for.

Some seals and a set of style pages and a guaranteed pony are looking more and more like an underpayment. And I'm not one of the locked out folks.

I would be livid that I was missing out on tens-hundreds of millions in mats, style pages, regular game drops, AP, tel var, XP, raid and arena progressions, daily login rewards and endeavors, master writs, mount training, research timers, profit from item flipping, etc.... not to mention actual income if I was a streamer.

I assumed the players would miss a few days, and then be back to their regular routines. But the idea of missing multiple weeks through no fault of one's own seems as though it would be rather upsetting.

I realize that this might be the "simple" solution but it seems to me that the "correct" solution is to leave the accounts that were not impacted alone. There is no need to roll back accounts that were not impacted. It was bad enough that they had to shut down the Live server while they investigated what was going on.

In light of the earlier announcement from @ZOS_GinaBruno that those of us with locked out accounts aren't even in the discussion stage for a possible date of restoration (discussions on a suitable date will happen after the scheduled maintenance ends around 9ET on Monday), I'm tending toward the position that a horse (with braids - mustn't forget the braids), some style pages that I wasn't farming, and some Seals of Endeavor that I don't much care about either, are a woefully inadequate apology for the length of the account lockout.

Assuming the one-month extension on my ESO Plus subscription works as advertised (I won't know until mid-summer when it's due to renew), then I have been made whole and somewhat more than that when it comes to the lost time on my subscription. And yes, I got a redeemable game code which I could use for an alt account. It's currently unredeemed because I already had an alt account (with better content access than the code would have provided), but it was a nice gesture to those who were not similarly situated. What that alt account lacks is the stuff my main account has: an overflowing craft bag, access to every bit of content (I've bought everything in spite of the sub), and seven CP1500+ characters who are capable of going anywhere and doing anything in the pursuit of coffers. A Khajiit Templar who unlocked his backbar today just isn't anywhere equal to that.

After what was supposed to have been a case of being locked out for a few days has turned into being locked out for over a week, I'm not feeling particularly appreciative of a horse (with braids), some outfit pages, and some seals by way of apology. If ZOS wants to keep those seals and talk lost event tickets, lost reward coffers, lost XP on those characters, lost login rewards, lost Hireling mails, and the rest, then they'll be getting close. At the moment, "not a happy camper" would be a tactful way of describing my current feelings about it.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

Weren’t Slaughterfish as a map barrier a player suggestion too?

Were they? I never knew that!
