I'm not normally one for giving my thoughts on the forums, but this times, I want to weigh in on the discussion.
I've been grinding the exclusive pages as well and at this point, I doubt I'll ever get them, but I'll keep trying (against my better judgement)
Many of us are in the same boat and while I understand that these pages might remain elusive for many of us, the drop rate is ridiculously low.
Even compared to past events, but at least there, there was a chance to get the pages on a later date, buy them from guild traders/impresario at some point or whatever.
This time? Nope, nothing, zero, forget about it. Grind them or loose them. And that for a 10-year anniversary event...
And not to be salty, but then there is the (in my opinion) high compensation for those that have been locked out.
Yes, that sucked for those people and giving them a compensation is the least ZOS could do, but the amount seems a slap in the face of many of the players that were not locked out.
Let me give you MY reasons why I think so:
- 16,000 seals.... It's a year (or about that) worth of endeavors for most players.
- 25 Confetti packs... That's more than what unlucky players will get during the event if they do not spend tickets to buy them from the Impresario and they don't get extra's from the purple boxes. (Yes, there is a guaranteed 1 in each Glorious box, but you won't get 25 of them over the course of the event and so far, I haven't seen them with Guild traders either nor in purple boxes)
- All 5 exclusive style pages... This might be the biggest slap in the face of people who have been grinding them and still haven't gotten even 1. Yes, it is nice for ZOS to offer them, but come on. At least up the drop rates for the rest of us in that case. Keep it fair for everybody or put in place some kind of safeguard that after X amount of tries, the page drops. That way, everybody has at least a chance to get them if they are willing to put the time and effort in it.
- What about previous events? How many times before have there been trouble with maintenance of server outage when there was NO compensation? Yes, it happened a few times that the event was extended for a day or two, but certainly not every time and no compensation was given in any other form either. This time, the event was extended and a compensation was given. Above and beyond, certainly. But a slap in the face none the less for people who have lost event time in the past and were given nothing in return.
And for those who say: but they lost subscription time...
They have not lost it. It is still active and they were compensated with 1 month of ESO+ to make up for those lost days. Another thing that has never been given out before when players were locked out from playing because of whatever circumstance in the past.
So they haven't lost their money on that and the only thing they have to do is set up the automatic renewal, if they wish to.
So yeah, on the one hand: Congrats ZOS for compensating the people who were affected.
On the other hand, I'm pretty salty about the way they handle certain aspects of the current event (and to an extension past and probably also future events).
It's high time the complete RNG is ditched for a different system that still requires effort be put into it, but is at least somewhat more rewarding to everybody.
Or up the drop rates, because frankly, they are ridiculous sometimes.
Food for thought after this 10 year milestone perhaps???
