im not sure what to expect with scribing but with over another 4000 variations on skills will it be like current armour and weapons ? most dont use 95% of them. so..are you making builds centered around your individual characters or waiting for a meta everyone uses ?

I'll be using scribing to plug holes in thematic builds. Giving my Nightblade a little ice magic, giving my warden some shadow magic, things like that. I'm sure there will be some ridiculous meta skills that will be overpowered and force completely unrelated things to be nerfed. I'm far more interested in if there will be a one scribed skill limit per build or if someone can go ham and fill a bar with scribed skills.

Maybe they should have their own slot and dial down the power a bit, kinda like those small boon items I've seen suggested from time to time that give very small bonuses but add to a character feeling unique. Trinkets I believe is the term used in other games.

Anyway, one scribed skill at a low level of power with its own slot would be great. They would feel like additions instead of substitutions, especially if they aren't that great in terms of overall power.

I'll just wait for the nerds to find out which one's are the best one's and copy them once it goes live (assuming scribing is good enough to replace a skill and it doesn't get nerfed to the ground on live)

Tbh 99% of ESO players are RP'ers anyways so the 4k options is a nice way to let them explore their builds, for people that have some understanding of the combat system they will just use the meta setup and call it, why use a different skill if it does less damage? because it's pretty?

I don't know yet. I kind of feel as if the sheer number of options is.... disheartening and overwhelming.

I'm really looking forward to scribing and will be using it on every build. I exclusively play one bar builds so this will open up many more options for me. Having Oakensoul tanks becoming viable now because of the pull scribing skill is going to be so nice.

The only thing I took from hybridization was watching most of the people I play with lean more into the blandification and unification of builds. RP'ers or not, I expect the same from this tbh. There will be a meta scribing, it will be all over YouTube, copy/paste/done.

In my case, I hope my necro can use more Soul Magic, and be more of a traditional Elder Scrolls necromancer, with black soul gems aplenty. Maybe pair Unfathomable Darkness with Oblivions Foe, and go full Reach-witch-necro.

You can’t give Scribing skills their own slot, console has no buttons left for that. You could make it a weird button combination like X+O or A+B, but these don’t activate often enough on first use either on console. I don’t see why they would need to limit Scribing skills anyway, they are not more powerful that regular skills, they are just more customizable. They’re not like Ultimates or something. I agree on your last part though, it would feel better if those skills would be additions instead of substitutions, but I think ZOS‘ goal is exactly the latter part so we can give specific class/weapon combos skills that they didn‘t have access to prior to Scribing.

Scribing plus elf bane is likely gonna be a thing. Many new fire abilities to buff with that.

But I'm interested in maybe using shock variants with that one set that freely has a 15% chance to add extra damage on shock damage with no cooldown. Can maybe make that work now.

Might mess with thematic builds if ZOS gives us our full PTS collections back again. Otherwise, unless I hear interesting developments on the warden and arc DPS side of things, I’m just going to focus on using scribing on my tanks. Upgrade from void bash, maybe from silver leash, maybe from inner rage, we’ll see.

I think it can make simple overland questing more fun: I'm looking at implementing Trample in an unarmed build, and the pull seems funny too. Very excited and with high hopes, but I don't think I'll rework all of my builds; I'm fine as I am now and using Oakensoul I don't have many slots available to fit in new stuff.

This,it's exactly what i hope on Scribing,Not every build needs to be 120k dps wth 2 buttons i want fun ways to play around, i wish disease dmg build, pure fire builds, etc i hope scribing bring us that option

It does… somehow. So as we’ve seen in the preview video for the Soul Magic skill, you could choose between physical, shock and magic damage. Not every skill will have every possible elemental damage source as a script, it depends. But I think the options are big enough to make for some very individual and specialized combos.

This is the list of all available scripts, but as said above, not every skill has every scrip available:

I’m a little worried about the ink grind, TBH.

I'm a bit worried about the grind in general. I already have a couple of ideas for combinations of skills but I hope I won't have to grind for infinite hours just to have 2 new skills on 1 main character.

Thing is, I will play this game the same amount of time with or without grind, but I'll enjoy it more without.

I think that will be impacted by the cost of actually setting up a build combined with the amount of power the scribed abilities hold.

The more effort to make the build, the less likely I'll experiment on live.

The more power the scribed abilities have, the less likely I'll experiment on live because people will be more likely to complain if I'm not delivering what they want.

Scribing sounds awesome. I just hope there isn’t another grind associated with it. I guess it’s on PTS which I don’t have installed.
