Something That Struck Me As Odd

Soul Shriven
So... something that always struck me as a bit weird is how, in the Daggerfall Covenant storyline at least, two of the Alyied Spirits and Neramo mention that the Vestige lacks a soul, which allows them to go after the Bloodthorn Cult leader on Betnihk. But, thing is, as far as we know, the Vestige isn't actually a Soul Shriven/Vestige yet. A couple of places where I brought this up theorized that the Adamantine Tower intercepted you after you were sacrificed to Molag Bal. But, I dunno. It just strikes me as a continuity error that Neramo and those two spirits mention we don't have a soul when, by all appearances, we still have a soul thanks to not getting sacrificed to Molag Bal just yet.

It's stated we're soul Shriven and we escaped Coldharbor at the start of the story, and we get
    our soul back
    at the end of it

    Soul Shriven
Not the issue. I'm saying it's weird how, in the current build of the game, in the Daggerfall Covenant storyline, we end up doing S'tars M'karn and Betnikh, during which three different characters mention we lack a soul BEFORE we start the Soul Shriven In Coldharbour mission, which is supposed to be the part where we find out we've lost our soul.

Yes, that irregularity has been brought up several times.

The actual storyline requires that Soul Shriven in Coldharbour be the first thing you do. Anyone who wants to do the story in a logical order would therefore need to start by going to the starter Capital (Daggerfall, Vulkhel, Davon's) instead of the starter island that the portal sends you to.

Unfortunately, nothing was ever done about it.

You used to start the game in Coldharbour just after your soul got taken. Then you got dropped off in Stros M’Kai, Bleakrock, or Khenarthi’s Roost. That was before the chapters were released and they decided to start people there instead.

they are not going to go back and change all the dialog, and implement a system that analyzes if the character has started the main quest or not. The game has expanded so much you can play past 50/160 without doing Any of the Main quest and therefore you still have your soul as normal - during ALL the conversations that apply. There's a side quest in alik'r that remarks about lore saying only someone without a soul could be successful.

Just like my vampire character does the Vardenfall main quest, at one point has to get information from an NPC who wants to kill all vampires, yet she never notices my character is one.

Sometimes we have to just accept it's a game and there are going to be minor issues with immersion from time to time.

LOTS of things in the game assume you've already done the main quest, and they have for years; it's not limited to the Daggerfall Covenant storyline.

Just one of many examples, the Hircine's Gift quest that you undertake in order to become a werewolf after you've contracted the Sanies Lupinus virus.

It doesn't matter if you've started the main quest or not, you get the same dialog from Hircine:

"The God of Schemes has tasted your soul. You've come back tainted. Wrong."
