Unable to log in on console since maintenance today

    Yes, I can 100% say that the following steps on PS5 do NOT change anything for the bug:
    • Deleting local saved game data
    • Clearing PS5 cache
    • Rebuilding PS5 database

    That was as far as I got yesterday in my troubleshooting. I was able to successfully log that account and characters in when I booted up my old PS4.

    I am now going to attempt on PS5 to delete the cloud saved game data and ESO, then redownload and reinstall the game, as that seems to have fixed it for a few of my guildmates. Going to try and cross my fingers that no other account somehow gets negatively affected by these actions.

    I will say the freeze bug happens on character select screen regardless of actions taken. It happens quicker if you select a toon to try and load in. But even if you just sit there idle, it will freeze up within about 10-15 seconds of just sitting idle on the character select screen. And that it affects ALL toons on an account - if the account can't get in, there is no "list toons who can log in and list toons who can't". If you got the bug, ain't none of your toons logging in.

    Also, honestly, major shout out and kudos to @ZOS_Kevin for replying to this thread at literally 1:19am on a worknight, y'all. For real. I know we're all super frustrated by everything U41 and yesterday's subsequent patch broke (a lot... it is A LOT), but the community manager here is pulling crazy hours keeping up with us.

    I can now confirm that deleting and redownloading ESO (as well as deleting the local saved game data and cloud saved game data, to be extra thorough) fixes this issue on PS5. My affected account is fine now.

    @TheTreeez - Please try this, guildie. :smile: It has worked for everyone I personally know on PS5, including now myself, who had this issue.

    @ZOS_Kevin - Tagging you for work-around solution that at least seems to mostly work for PS5. Not sure if it might help the XBox brethren.

    I play Eso with Xbox in EU. Can’t login to EU server after latest maintenance. Game freezes at the character login screen and goes no further. This is the message I’ve got.

    ”Unable to connect to game server. Please make sure you have a valid internet connection..”

    Surprisingly I can login to NA server? The problem might be in EU server? I hope this is solved quick because of this cake event. I want my tickets 😊

    Just providing an update here. We are still investigating. As others have mentioned, uninstalling and reinstalling seems to resolve the issue in the short-term. But we have several team members who have been investigating all day, and are still doing so. We'll update as we gather more information.     Making people wait 3 days, or forcing them to reinstall the game (which doesn't work for everyone) for some mysterious bug that prevents main system accounts from signing in is ridiculous.

    Players are feverishly waiting for a solution to the problem. It would be good idea to give interim information a little more often, because it is unheard of to not be able to log into the game for almost a week. We assumed that fixing the problem would take a few hours, but now several days have passed. Hopefully we will see at the top of the forum when the problem has finally been solved, because at the moment players have to try it themselves to see if the game works or not, and when the screen freezes again and again, it's hard to hold back the anger. Please give us information!
