Daily Endeavor - Play a Tales of Tribute Match

Well, all matches weren't created equal apparently. Or a match is only against another player.

I decided to hold my nose (since Dueling and Trials are not something I like) and take more than the time to run daily crafting (during the event for the extra rewards!) on the first tutorial match.

Well, it turns out that didn't count and I didn't get the Endeavor credit for a significant chunk of playtime.

It is bad enough to have that as one of the endeavors. Yes, the tooltip says "From the Activity Finder" but why? The game sucks for many of us already! And you want to get us to waste our time on it by requiring the PvP variant?

Yeah, I've avoided these endeavors because the one time I tried playing against other players (way back when ToT was still just newly released) was so traumatic for me, so now I stick to playing against NPCs which doesn't count.

However, I've heard that you don't need to win the match, so reportedly you can queue for a match, immediately concede to the other player, and still complete the endeavor. I think I'd have to at least play to the bitter end, but it's nice to know you can still get the endeavor even if you lose ir concede.

We can immediately concede? Not sure that is better, but I wouldn't care about having a loss. Even a duel with me standing around could take a while, unless I get one of the PvP gankers....

I realize it is in the middle of the night on EU, but no match after 1 minute of queueing.

I may try later or I may just skip the 10 endeavor points.

I should be queuing for a match in a little while, but first I'm going to play the NPC matches.

The reason being just like the ToT daily activity is for PvP and not Pve because it will get abused.
Just do a match? worst case you lose so? not like you are betting anything.
Also duels take like 5 seconds, type in zone chat looking for duel, I hate pvp but I love duel endeavors those take the shortest time to finish.

This. Not sure if conceding will get you endeavors, but you can skip turn each turn and get the endeavor.

I have a feeling that won't satisfy you though Flopsy, I'm often unsure of why you play this game when you want everything changed.

It annoyed me because I didn't read the tooltip and played a match to completion. (I even barely won.)

Then I found I got nothing. Yes, I should have read it closer, but I don't look for details on "kill X enemies" ones.

Just annoying that my fair time spent turned out to be wasted.

Don't worry, I made that same mistaken assumption the first time this endeavor came up in the rotation. After I won an NPC match, didn't get the endeavor, read the tooltip, and realized my misunderstanding, I was disappointed, too.

Tonight was the first time I've done this particular endeavor, and I was hesitant to do a PvP natch because of how traumatic it was for me back in the earliest days of ToT. Surprisingly, the match seemed fairly even during the first half, then I managed to get a really good turn where I jumped way ahead and won the match. I'll probably end up queuing for more PvP matches every so often, which I suspect is partly the point of this endeavor-- to encourage more players to queue for ToT matches.

To avoid potential further unexpected frustration, I'd like to reiterate this first point. The game treats conceding and repeatedly ending your turn without action differently (you do not get a loss reward email after conceding), so conceding may not count for the endeavour. Importantly in that case: after conceding you get a ten-minute debuff preventing you from queueing again on that character.

I wish the matches against other players didn't require the Activity Finder.

My GF and I play ToT against each other all the time, but you don't get credit for anything (not just endeavors) that requires playing another player if you hook-up outside of the Activity Finder.

Today's endeavours are great example of how not to do endeavours.
      - Trial.
      - PvP duel.
      - PvP Card game.
So 3 out of 5 are end game activities. You can not play card vs NPC, nor you can not immediately quit PvP Card game / Duel as "walkowers" for some reason do not count. Oh and Trial still do not have match maker.

So, is ZOS really expecting players to just do Afk Duels ? Cuz this is what 90% of players will do lol.

While I agree about the category spread of today’s endeavors not being great, I am confused by your comment that trials don’t have a matchmaker. They do. That’s what the Group Finder is for - all kinds of PUG grouping, including trials.

I don't see the problem with duels. I just type "/z duel at wayshrine for endeavour?" and I'm done in a minute.

I don't know what I'm doing, I don't load a dedicated build, and ... I don't care either. Job gets done, and it's even fun.

I also seem to start brawls, as more than two people show up and I'm not even dueling the original people that agreed sometimes. Who cares - we all complete our endeavours!

Yeah there is another tool, but it is not automated. It is not like you just pick a role & trial you want to do, but you rather create a "lobby" room & pick players (or enter existing one). It is not really a match maker, but rather kinda like Craglorn's "Tank LFG nAA", but slightly better cuz you don't have to type that much and you can pick globally, not only from the zone you are in. But imho it is way less user friendly than Dungeon Finder. Besides, currently on EU there are like... 3 trial lobby rooms with 3/12 players, which goes to show that not many players use it. I would not be surprised if they went with actual Dungeon Finder style MM system it would make trials more popular activity overall.

Ah, see on PS5 NA it is very popular and used a ton, hence my initial confusion regarding your comment. But I see it comes down to simply different experiences on different servers.

I've been doing endeavors since they first came out. I think my record at getting 3/5 every day is about 95%. But, hey, there are days here and there where the selections do not support that since I only do stuff in game I enjoy. Trial, duel, card game are all off the table but no worries that I just get 2/5 today.

I wouldn't classify dueling as "end game," I was under the impression that it's usually more popular among beginning players who are still trying to work on their builds and rotations. Not that some end-gamers don't enjoy dueling, but I'd imagine that they'd rather do their 1v1 and 1vX "duelling" in Cyrodiil, IC, or BGs.

I also wouldn't classify ToT matches as "end game," except perhaps among players who enjoy playing ToT. I was under the impression that "real end-gamers" despise ToT and think ZOS should delete it from ESO.

Usually, I would have gone without a third endeavor with choices like today, but I decided to just go stand at an Undaunted tent.

I had the duel endeavor completed a couple minutes later. Was challenged by two different players. Lost one; won one.

And note that while Duels may not be end game, I have never seen them as a productive thing nor desired them in any way.

ZOS should really expand the choices and have 3 that are always crafting, killing mobs, etc. Then have 3 or 4 other other game events, including Trials, etc.

I choose to do a ToT game today because it would be faster than my other choice of doing a trial. I queued for a casual match and when I saw that my opponent was one of the top ToT players I knew it wouldn't take me long to lose. I was right. Endeavor done in quick order!

I think the idea is that Tribute itself is the endgame activity, considering you have to do so much to acquire stronger decks, and honestly, it's really only good if you absolutely love it or have nothing else to do.

I would disagree, I have all of the decks and still mostly use Pelin and Red Eagle to good effect. Maybe the highest levels of ranked could be considered that, but random casuals definitely not.
