I personally think it's fun having more molag Bal designs in game. I think he looks really cool and I love getting to see him more. Especially since he was originally the main threat of the game.
I see the cake more as a method of catharsis. He was the threat to tamriel and the empire, as seen by his cake. So since we won against him, we eat it as a "yeah, take that Bal. Get beaten and eaten". I do get what you mean though.5 -

✭✭✭✭✭It would be so beautiful if only it didn’t have Molag Bal on it! I like how some of the other cakes (and other event rewards) fit the theme of the year without being literally of whatever villain, etc. Blackwood was best year for that — great personality and great house!
Many in my housing guild agree — the cakes from Mehrunes Dagon and Hermaeus Mora’s years were nice, and we were coming up with ideas for a Sheogorath cheesecake! But I mean, Molag Bal… I can’t find a polite word for… 2 -

It's also an iconic moment of being held by a daedric prince right before you melt his face off. I've only done the main quest on my main character, so it's been a few years since I've even seen the encounter and I've only seen it once, but I definitely remember it. The cake is a tribute to that memory. Honestly it took me a second to even remember the threat/story of blackwood. Maybe it's just me though.2
