About RuneCarver's Blaze

Among dungeon sets, is it close to top-tier on basically any class and setup with lots of dots? or only if the setup has more Aoe dots with 1sec ticks, like necro and Dk?

I use as many dots as i can on most of my classes, so i'm wondering how good it is compared to other strong sets like pillar, kinras, Order... , mainly for my warden and necro.

To be honest, I'd also like to know if anyone knows about how many DoTs it takes to make Runecarver Blaze better than the Deadly Strike set (increases DoT effects by 15%), or if Deadly Strike is always better.

The "secret"to runecarvers is you slap it on at arcanist to get a flat boost to beam, but that aside to answer the question, it varies based on wpn/sol fmg of the user, bit on average 4 to meet deadly, more to surpass it, naturally

Or do a madlad and combine the sets

mmmmmhmmmmmm. I do ponder how that would work with Serpents Disdain and elemental sus.

I have yet to see one Arcanist build use Runecarver over Deadly Strike, even after U41. The only builds I have seen use Runecarver to some degree of success are Mag DKs.

I use it on necromancer and templar and I feel it useless just pointless and will not work for Arcanist neither.

Only place I use Runecarver on Arcanist is for Infinite Archive. The beam procs it every 0,9 second and now it has the correct chance of applying burning which is pretty strong in IA where status effects are godlike thanks to Focused Efforts.

Buy for Arcanist, best set are deadly Strike and order wrath right

Same here. I have a full set of it and it doesn't seem to have the "oomph" of other sets like Deadly. So it stays in storage. If anyone can show data to the contrary I certainly would like to see it.

That's a strong setup. I use it as well as Deadly with Pillar of Nirn/Azureblight. I have different gear loadouts I use for different scenarios. Don't forget the Velothi Amulet mythic to go with your Arcanist build.

i dont believe runecarvers procs off of dot status effects, but would need to do more extensive testing

i also havent done enough testing to see if runecarvers procs off of fire destro heavy attack (i know azureblight does not)

runecarvers is definitely more efficient with both more dots, and more frequent ticking dots

arcanist has one of the fastest ticking dots currently, which is the beam (0.5 sec tick rate, runecarver proc every 1.5 sec)

other close mentions would be necromancer tethers (0.6 sec tick rate) and templar jesus beam (0.6 sec tick rate) (runecarver proc every 1.8 sec)

after that you got most of your ground based dots which are 1 sec tick rates (runecarver proc every 3 sec), though a few sticky dots fall into this category (talons, acid spray for example)

and most sticky dots, the most inefficient for runecarver, are 2 sec tick rates (runecarver proc every 6 sec)

I mean, if you just eyeball the numbers on it you'd see that:

    Nirn - 803 plus 2405/10 every 10 seconds.
Runecarver - 209 every third tick.

So if Nirn is 320.8 per second (with perfect pitch) then Runecarver needs to trigger 1.53 times per second to match (Nirn being the most common, but not the top). This is also every 0.65 seconds approximately.

So if you need 1.53 times per second then:
2 second dot = 6 seconds to proc once.
1 second dot = 3 seconds to proc once.
Templar beamy beam = 1.8 seconds to proc once.
Arcanist beam = 0.9 seconds to proc.

    So imagine a Warden -
    Fetcherflies (2 sec) - 1/6th
    Cliffracer (1 sec) - 1/3rd
    Winter's Respite (1 sec) - 1/3rd
    Polar Wind (2 sec) - 1/6th
    Carve (2 sec) - 1/6th
    Stampede (1 sec) - 1/3rd
    Barbed Trap (2 sec) - 1/6th

You'd be getting 1.67 times per second, which barely beats Nirn.

i also havent done enough testing to see if runecarvers procs off of fire destro heavy attack (i know azureblight does not)

Tested, the result is no and no. Dot status effects seem to tick every 2s while lasting 4, so I had them extended with Serpents Disdain on WW new Pounce (hard to have any forced status effect that is not tied to a dot and did not want to craft a SD piece just to test Asylum Destro). No RB proc.

Yeah, they're treated as procs for the sake of the general procs don't proc procs guidelines set down by the devs (but not always followed...).
