I absolutely hated this change from the moment it was announced on PTS, but after trying it in a few PvE builds, it's actually really nice compared to using the original blastbones in PvE rotations. My only complaints/suggestions:
1) The damage % buff is underwhelming compared to what stalking blastbones used to provide.
I think the damage buff should be brought back to 20%.
2) The initial 2.5 seconds to start the buff feels clunky. Furthermore, many times I'll start my rotation as I'm walking towards the enemy only to be marginally outside of aggro range when I press this ability, thus my rotation is messed up which also feels clunky.
I think it should be cast-able outside of combat.
