Are building homes out of bounds bannable?

An excellent question. My thoughts on this...

I've seen certain homes with a similar connection to the undeveloped space outside the house and I've been there as well. In every instance, ZOS has patched that connection closed. In one instance for example it was a hole in the back of a waterfall, and I believe they patched that twice to close it. This is something that comes up once in a while.

They probably won't ban but the undeveloped environment can be unstable and unpredictable. Although I personally see no issue with exploring it and have never reported anyone for doing so, ZOS has tracked these down and sealed them shut in the past. You can build there if you like but even if you don't say something, it only takes one person to place a video on YouTube (like a Streamer) and that's GG.

I don't like streamers very much for this reason but apparently they don't care what I like either.

This leads to the question is furniture that is placed out in the Great Beyond and then after the hole is sealed retrievable?

I would say "yes". You would just retrieve it from that global option where it gives the little arrow and shows how far away the item is.

A cosmetic (physical change) like that should not stop you from retrieving what's yours. I can't speak for the devs however I would think that's how they'd prefer it.

Lol remove this!! Some of us are trying to build here while it lasts.

I wouldn't worry about being banned, but I definitely wouldn't post about out-of-bounds content anywhere highly visible. That's what word-of-mouth is for.

Well don't worry it's not my house and I haven't said the owner's name.

No, but if it should happen to be considered an exploit then it's you who has just described it. I doubt it's a problem, but...

I have knowledge of it true because a friend sent me a screenshot but I haven't exploited it or used it myself out of fear.

Then why describe it on the official forum? That was my point.

'Cos I wanted to know ZOS official stance on it.

This culture of fear is really sad - players shouldn't be worried and afraid of making any little misstep or doing anything that could even be remotely interrupted as such.

Just use common sense and play the game the way you'd like to. Despite what people may think, I can guarantee you that more often than not, ZOS is using common sense too.

In the end, if ZOS doesn't agree, they can adjust their game to account for that (it's what they do), or we players can go play another game.

There is life beyond ESO, and no one should ever have to be afraid while playing the game that is intended to bring them joy - unless it's Midyear Mayhem and you're a PVE player trying to do quests for tickets in the Imperial City - that fear is real.

I agree but you know how trigger happy they are with ban hammers.

Yes but think of the people who want to keep enjoying their special cool unique build lol! Of course a simple "fix" could wipe it all away (all housing is temporary anyway) but ... who wants that to happen.

Whilst true better to know if you can or can't then adjust your house accordingly then to wake up and have your house wiped without knowing if it's okay or not.

I thought they gave us empty space around some houses so the player could build out on them. I figured if we can walk on it we can build on it.

If I’m understanding this right, this is an unintentional hole left somewhere around the waterfall that is allowing players to go out into the Great Nothingness Beyond the Boundary of Tamrielic Time and Space.

So this thread is about one particular spot in one particular house? Not about housing in general?

Many of them have cracks and seams that lead to other areas. This particular one is probably the most notorious. But the OP is afraid that if he does it in his own house, that he may be banned. However, ZOS received a lot of backlash for altering Earthtear after the fact and ruining many people's builds.

Or you can enjoy it while you can and stave off the inevitable. My take is that it would be sad if pre-existing builds in spaces like that (which I've seen) were suddenly inaccessible one day because of a photo that was recognized and fixed.

Sidenote, the Code of Conduct does say 'You will not directly or indirectly communicate the existence of any such bug to any other user of the ZeniMax Service (in game or on a ZeniMax Service)."

Define "bounds". There already exist invisible walls, so many of them, and diligent slaughterfish. Visible bounds, such as walls or fences, don't always correspond to the actual limits of the zone. Granted, there have been cases of certain fun holes in the walls, such as a way to get into Falkreath from Hakkvild's High Hall, but I can't see how these could be considered harmful. You don't accrue undue advantages, nor do you cause other players harm.

This is something ZOS needs to explicitly state to avoid undue fear and confusion.
