Maintenance broke emote prop replacing!

So, for a long, long, long time now you could replace props in emotes with your own weapons by quickly blocking. (Example: /dance then block, you'd now be dancing whilst holding your weapon)

Today's maintenance has somehow disabled this, and it's a major detriment for roleplayers and screenshotters! I'm assuming this was unintentional, as ZOS has tried to remove this feature before only to be met with backlash which prompted keeping it in.

@ZOS_Kevin Any confirmation on this being (un)intentional and when/if we'll have this fixed?

(Also, as a temporary work around. If you own the /offerweapon emote, you can do that one first, then quickly trigger the actual emote you want.)

    Again?

This was originally flagged as a bug and “fixed” so you couldn’t do it anymore, then after much backlash from the players it was reintroduced… then removed by accident, put back again… I feel like this is the fourth or fifth time.

This is a very common endless cycle in coding. When ever something gets fixed something else breaks.

Thats why bug reports and quality assurance exist. To come up with a possible solution to resolve both problems.

You can still do it! You just have to block first and then emote (through something like lovelyemotes add-on)

While testing this out, I did discover something new:

Using an emote after quick drawing a weapon will quickly sheathe it. As soon as the emote starts, drawing the weapon again (by blocking) will make it appear to be sheathed, but you can still attack with it and cast abilities. Sheathing will fix this fun visual glitch.

@ZOS_Kevin @ZOS_GinaBruno can this change be reverted please? It’s been done before because you know the player base wants to have this option.

Indeed, it seems one can hold block first to emote "bug" still, but this doesn't work with all emotes and is generally less consistent.
@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_Kevin Please revert this change. We complain about this every time it happens, and the "fix" is almost always reverted. If unintentional though, any ETA on when we'll see this feature back in?

I've had to use the "hold block then hit enter" approach since the patch.

There was also a fix to the /taichi floating weapon bug, that added a NEW bug where your character's limbs become disjointed and clip through your torso lol. I should submit a /bug next time I remember to get a screenshot.

There's also a bug where healing or buffing other players makes them withdraw their weapon, force-ending their emote. Even when neither player's in combat or anywhere near an enemy. On top of the mementos that move other players and end their emotes, it's a warzone out there!

Hi all, just following up after chatting with the team. As some of you have mentioned, holding block first still works to replace the prop with a weapon. So that should work for the time being. We are looking into what caused the other method to stop working as we did not intentionally do anything to change this.

If you could, it would be great to know what platform everyone is using. This may help narrow down any specific issues if this is only impacting PC or console.

PC EU here, and the holding block doesn't even always work either. On some emotes it completely cancels the emote now.

Could this be related to the changes I noticed where (for example) in the past if you had a weapon out and used the ayleid well or armory station in your house, it would put the weapon away and then use the tool in one click. Now, it doesn't seem to chain those steps together, so if you click with your weapon out it puts your weapon away and you have to click again to use the well/armory station

There's another bug associated with this now. If you are in an emote, and block to animation cancel it, it will bug out your character, making them block unarmed weapon on your back. It's bad if you get into combat because the only way to reset it is to sheathe and unsheathe your weapon, otherwise you can't fight at all.

The bug above persists. Hopefully with the PTS issues out of the way, it can be worked on.

A fix is in the works for this. It was undergoing testing the last time we checked in on progress. We'll follow up and see where the team is regarding this fix. No eta as of right now.

I'd like to mention that the bug does work if you initiate an emote while you're blocking, i.e. double-pressing enter mid-blocking after having typed in an emote command, but it doesn't work with most emotes that use props i.e. Maniacal Jester /idle2 or /eliteseat; trying to hide those props with hide helmet will sheathe the replacing weapon.

Can confirm, tapping block before an emote stopped working this patch on console where that was always the only way we could emote with our weapons.
