U41 Arc nerfs really?

Totally unnecessary dps nerfs to this new class.

The status effects might counter it and I do like that ZOS is at least being cautious with it.

Not like Necromancer who just keep getting shot despite being dead already.

We are testing now and the offset does not appear to be there. For a class who needs to use the velidroth mythic item (can’t light attack with the channel beam) this nerf was ridiculous to say the least. Totally agree with the shield nerf on arc. But not the beam nerf.

You really won't see much dps falloff, if at all. The status effect nerf from +75% to +55% isn't impactful at all (for most status effects you'll still be dealing more damage this patch), and the beam nerf is a micro-tweak at most (and again, offset by the status effect changes). Most parses are showing about a 5% nerf to damage overall, which is peanuts.

    106k down to 86k is not 5%

131k => 128k. So a 2.3% loss in damage. If you're seeing a bigger loss than that, you're either changing your rotation too much or need to adjust your build in other ways.

It’s the adjustments. It’s going up. Had to change some “in real life raiding” to “parsing dps” and it jumped.

Barely see any difference in dps at all. And by “barely”, I mean it takes me seven seconds to burn down mobs rather than five. Oh the horror…

This is not the worst nerf of the patch, trust me.

Gotta love how over 70% of it is aoe with a 15M+ range, incredible sustain, easiest rotation in the game, coming from mostly 2 abilities, all the while still managing to hit 130k.

Most MMO's have DPS categories for best aoe, best cc, best single target, best ranged, best melee, best utility, etc. ESO seemingly does none of this. Arcanist just does all of it for whatever reason leaving 0 reason to take the "single target" damage dealers like Sorc (beyond Atro) or NB.

    Make it make sense.

From purely a parsing POV, Stamsorc is still king, and NB was previously possible to get above Arcanist, but lost Major Berserk this patch.

But all encounters in new trials have a lot of AoE requirements so there's no need. Same reason DK was meta before Arcanist came along. Even if NB could do 150k DPS on a dummy you would probably still not use them in the newer trials unfortunately.

Class balance and encounter design do not favour single target at all.

It's the top parse DPS and ZOS is known for preferring nerf top over buff rest (which I can't blame them for, power creep and all). I'm surprised (and happy) ZOS has decided to put down the sledgehammer if anything, people have been saying for a year now that "next patch" Arc will get "nerfed into Oblivion" but, call me coping, I think they're taking the tweak approach with this.

Personally, I think the beam needs further nerfs. You shouldn't have the damage equivalent of 4-5 DoTs stacked into one ability that's also an aimable AoE, it's insanely overturned.

It was a really mild nerf lol, much preferrable to the -33% or -47% nerfs ZoS are known to do.

When you have a spammable that does up to 50k DPS with a 100% cleave efficiency then a nerf is definitely warranted imo.

This is the cycle: initial high damage/OP sets to sell content, nerf after a while, profit. It's why I waited until Necrom was on a steep sale...had no doubt Arc was gonna get nerfed.

To me, the Arcanist is a One Trick Pony. For DPS, they need to use Fate Carver and anyone who plays with it knows it's easily disrupted causing you to build your Crux over again. Make no mistake, this is a major DPS hit. This won't show up on a Dummy of course but in the world this happens all the time. Hopefully the Dev's won't look at Dummy DPS iif they want to adjust this skill but judge it by how it works in the open world because unlike some classes, the difference between Dummy and Open World is stark.
