Essence Thief set

Isn't this set an ultimate stamina users dream? Let's see:

2k stamina
129 wep dmg
10% dmg increase
Heal every 10s
4k stamina every 10s = 800 stamina regen.

Serioulsly? 800 stamina regen? Even Wretched Vitality gives less, and it doesn't give all other bonuses. Seems like strongest set in the game for stamina users.

Seriously, the more I play this game, I see more clearly that only no-cp campaigns are actually quite balanced, and all proc sets should be removed from game...

though Willow's Path gives more recovery if that's something i need.

And hey play in no-cp cyrodiil or imperial city campaigns if you want to, but proc sets shouldn't be removed from the game.
Proc sets are fun and PvP isn't the only thing that exists in this game.

Does anyone actually use Essence Thief? Seemed like one of those awkward sets where you have to stop fighting and go chasing after some object to grab to actually get set buff. Players don't like to play hide-and-go-seek mini games in middle of a fight.

Go ahead and use it if you think it is that powerful. As a fan of the set, and someone who does vastly more pve than pvp, in any content that requires you to not run around like a headless chicken, it's more trouble than it's worth, and in pvp you can't depend on always being able to pick up the buff. So try it, then you can see first hand if it is the most powerful set for stamina users.

Here’s the thing. Yes, Essence Thief gives you a lot of Stam recovery and damage. But, you have to break off your dps to chase down a little green pool that disappears after a short time to get those bonuses. God help you if that pool goes off a cliff, up on a ledge you can’t reach, or into an AOE you don’t want to step in.

if you're a stam character you are in melee combat so the pool to draw from should be right in front of or beside you, shouldnt it?

bows exist, not every stamina character uses melee weapons.

I've used this set myself and seen it in builds in the dueling area outside Stormhaven. I think it's mostly for duels, as BGs and Cyro fights can be very mobile, though I've seen it there, as well.

I think it's currently not as strong as it seems on paper because the uptime is definitely not 100%--it can take a few seconds to reach the proc area, and you can possibly miss it. You can keep it up pretty well, but in my experience it takes some movement speed investments.

Sets like this are why I like proc sets--they're interesting, visual, interactive, and one of several options to make a build and gameplay feel different. It's also not just a raw damage proc, it's a buff you kind of have to play around. Plus you get to turn green!

I use it on my Solo stamsorc gives me heal, stam and damage and when your solo you move around alot so getting the proc isnt a problem for me.

Using it in group content with a tank is annoying because it ends up all over the place including behind the tank lol

If you can get the proc, such as it dropping to the ground out of a tower, going onto walls you can't reach, or you are just outnumbered making a run for it and it goes behind you.

If you don't get the proc then you get no benefits over other sets.

As such it is used a lot in duels but not really elsewhere.

Also the 2-4pc lines aren't great, no one really plays "Stamina" anymore, the best builds are hybrids and you need both recoveries. Finally 10% of zero is zero, so you need to have decent damage already for it to outweigh other options.

And that's why people prefer no-Proc, because they don't understand sets or builds.

Exactly. Nothing stopping players from playing no cp cyrodil, but I enjoy playing in CP Cyrodil (proc sets or not).

The problem is that the pool spawns from the enemy, not you. So you’d still have to go into melee range to get it, making this set less than viable for ranged characters.

This set has one major flaw - it requires you to play certain "mini game" of positioning. You basically need to move where the "Essence" spawns and very often it goes in areas that makes the 5 pcs bonus unobtainable (so it is getting wasted). Basic example would be if it would spawn inside a boss AOE damage.

On paperer - sure, it is very strong. But from my experience it is like 60 - 70% success rate on if you can can grab the buff or not.

i would like it more if you didnt have to run around to find the little rune it spawns to actually get the buff

as there are possible times it could spawn in a location you cant get to such as underneath a large enemy, or in a deadly aoe (such as under a dragon)

at least they made it more useful from its original form where the rune would go up to 28 meters away from the target it spawned, now it at least stays within melee range lol

It’s arguably the most powerful offensive stamina set in pvp. Gives you near infinite stamina sustain as long as you can pick up the buff and it’s a unique 10% buff that stacks with everything in the game. Not as good in cyro fights as it is in 1v1s but definitely super underrated set in the public eye

If you really need a set for stam recovery in group content I would recommend this one as there is no need for the chasing of a badly misplaced pool.
