Bug or "Feature"? Can't attack dancing player in PvP.

Playing Whitestrake's (Midyear) Mayhem recently. My group took a town and went to the transit shrine to port for our next destination. There was an enemy player at the transit shrine dancing. No one in my group could attack him. Neither direct attacks or Abilities would work. At first, I thought it was a game bug. I reloaded the UI, but no joy. Then I moved away from him and my abilities worked again. Moved close to him and abilities stopped working. For a few seconds, I thought he might be using a "Cheat." But someone in the group told me this happens with dancing players in PvP. If this is an intentional "feature" (the Immortal Dancer Feature), then it's really, really not right. It's good for a laugh one time, but it's not right in Cyrodiil PvP. We all know this. Please end this "feature" immediately, so we may kill, kill, kill, and not leave some dancing immortal alive. Thank you.

There is a safe zone in towns near the Transitus shrine. No cheating Nothing shady.

the transit shrine in the town is a "safe spot", you cannot attack players protected by the safety effect (similar to the effect you get when you are in IC standing on the ladder door on a safe area, or you just pass through one of the district doors)

enemy players can still be up there when a town flips, but because its a safe area until they drop down, they cannot be attacked (they cannot actually use the transit though until the town is flipped again though), they also cannot attack anyone else while they are affected by the safe area

its been that way since they added the transit shrines in the towns

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

the Immortal Dancer Feature is intentional, and is vital to pvp.

Ah, the blue glow! So calming, so peaceful. :)

I was standing up on a balcony between Arboretum and the next district, waiting for more Daedroths to spawn and petting my cat, when an enemy player popped in beside me from the other district. The other player turned toward me, backed away, and started blasting me with his staff. Nothing (of course). I had my two Sorc pets out, and he tried to blast them. Then he leapt down into Arboretum and started blasting at me and my pets from the ground. He managed to kill my Twilight Matriarch, so I guess summoned combat pets aren't protected by the blue glow?

nope, and technically speaking there is a minor issue where players who are in a blue glow are not protected from player pets (bear, sorc pets)
    • if you have the blue glow you cannot cast skills
    • if an enemy has the blue glow, you cannot attack them (direct attacks will not fire at all, aoes have no effect)
    • player summons are unaffected by the blue glow (not protected by it), and can technically bypass someone else having the glow

an example of that happening is when your in the "safety" area in the middle of the nobles district with the main story quest giver, everyone has the blue glow inside of the building, but if you have a pet (warden bear or sorc pets) they can still attack enemy players who have the blue glow (unless this has been fixed) and unless you have a high amount of hp regen they can kill you pretty quick (as you cannot cast skills to defend yourself, you might be able to block but thats about it)

Ah, thanks! It didn't look like either of my pets were attacking the other player, and if they had been then I'd have unsummoned them. In fact, I don't remember seeing my Twilight Matriarch fighting back when the other player started to blast her. But as I said, I was petting my cat, so I might be mistaken, I may have missed it while I was preoccupied.
