PLEASE make crafting surveys easier for console players.

I’m not asking for an auto assistant to do all our surveys for us, it would just be nice to have something that marks our surveys on the map for us, to bring consoles QOL slightly more in line with PC and all its add ons.
Especially as more people make the switch to PS5, which has resolution issues making it not possible to zoom in as far on the map.
It just feels unfair that console players are stuck having to google survey locations constantly, and get eye strain trying to find the right location on a zoomed out map, when realistically at a certain point it should be marked for us.
I wouldn’t even mind if some achievement like master crafter or something had to be unlocked to receive the perk.

You console players are the true heroes. I just dont know how you do it. As a PC player, I just cannot fathom living and playing the game without my addons. They should be able to figure out some way to make your lives easier. Or, you can just come over here to the other side of the fence and join us PC players.

It would be nice if the chars could "remember" locations after they picked the survey. Same for treasure maps.

I don’t want this. It would make node harvesting CP buffs pointless, remove the extra bonuses you can get from harvesting nodes (leads, nirncrux etc.) and would plummet the price of mats because they would flood the market. If you want the rewards, do the content. If you don’t like the content, don’t do it. It’s not a waste of time if you want the results.

I've always thought it would be nice if a marker appears for surveys and maps in your inventory after you've collected the first of each, like how all other locations get an icon when you find them. I might actually do treasure maps then!

Some of us have played on both and want the console experience instead due to the more equal playing field across the game. I felt like on PC I needed to have the addons since everyone was using them. Where as console everyone has the same tools to use.
    PvP needs more love.

I’m not spending money on a pc that I don’t need, can’t afford, and don’t have space for, just to play a game I already own but with a slightly better QOL.

First of all, no one is asking for “all the perks” this is a discussion about one single QOL feature.
Second, how is adding something that PC has to console dumbing it down? Surely that makes PC the most dumbed down since it has addons for everything?
Would love to know how console players getting a single marker feature for surveys hurts the game at large in any way, shape or form.

I know OP talks about survey map location and how challenging that is for console, so this post does not have particular relevance to that but it's a general irritation that all serious crafters have.

Harvesting survey maps, whether on pc or console, is very time consuming and pointless. It's not supposed to be a challenge because it's a reward for completing a crafting writ, so it's very easy to complete. On the other hand, like I said, it is time consuming to run around to harvest them all. I don't understand the point because while you're doing this, you're not really enjoying the game. No one logs in saying, "Man, I can't wait to get to those survey maps...". It really is a void in the game where technically you're logged in and playing but not really enjoying it, because it's a necessary motion to go through. Anyway this is maybe an opportunity to change something to make it more enjoyable for crafters.
I don't comment here often but when I do, I get [snip]

This should be a base game feature, not only for surveys but treasure maps too. Make it an option bc someone somewhere is going to complain that they hate it.

I hate the surveys so much the only ones I do are for jewelry mats. I have trouble with ESO maps in general and spending a half an hour finding a cache just isn't a good use of my time.

While I echo the frustrations mentioned here, I don't mind the surveys too much. My own approach is to do them 'in bulk' so I wait until I have at least 5 of the same surveys and then do them all in 1 go.

I also try and do other surveys in the same zone at the same time because for example, a Blacksmith survey might be quite close to the location of a Clothier survey.

Like someone here already said, some parts of ESO feel like boring work that you "have to" do in order to be able to play what you enjoy. Inventory management feels like boring work to me and it can be a huge waste of time.

I have one char holding around 150 stacks of different kinds of surveys. Another char for bound daily rewards, fragments, xp scrolls and all that stuff. And many other chars for other things.

One extra account with multiple chars is just for all my treasure maps. And a couple of other accounts for recipes, blueprints, motifs and all the stuff that i want to deal with "later" because i don't think it's worth wasting my time doing it right now, but i know it's worth something and one day i might need it.

Most of my houses just store furniture i don't use, lined up next to each other like in a supermaket.

I have so much stuff, i need a long list of where everything is stored, to find anything...

Now you could call me a hoarder, a procrastinator, and tell me to just delete everything i don't need, or sell it really cheap. You could blame players like me for high prices and rare stuff not being available enough in guild traders. But as long as market manipulating billionaires aka "resellers" and farmbots are a thing, i don't really feel bad for keeping my loot when i know i will need it later. Or keep it until i researched what it's actually worth. This can take a while on console. And i don't really want to work in ESO, i want to play...

What i am trying to say is that the "fear of missing out" (like deleting something worth a lot of gold), combined with extremely time consuming inventory management and complicated trading system can be pretty frustrating for people who don't want to play "elder accountant online" all the time. And it can be unfair for people who don't want to just delete everything and buy gold for real money (via crowns or directly from gold sellers).

I guess it can be tricky for the devs to find a good balance. To give players who can afford it a reason to subscribe to eso plus (for the extra bank space and the craft bag) and buy pets (for more inventory space) and shortcuts in the crownstore. And still keep the game playable for people who can't spend as much money on video games.

We already got some very nice updates that made a lot of things easier. Like the sticker book with the ability to transmute and reconstruct gear. Or stackable siege weapons and unified repair kits. But on the other hand we constantly have to deal with new systems that make everything bigger and more complicated. Like housing, scribing and parts of the new mail system.

Stackable treasure maps, easier to find surveys and deconstructable furniture would be nice. But in the long run this will not be enough. We need a more rewarding and entertaining system to deal with all the loot. It should be easier and clearer to see how much something is worth. And what to do with it. Especially for new players and people who don't want to sit in front of guild traders (and google) all the time.

I use the "ESO Helper" app (on Android) to help with the surveys and treasure maps. Not as smooth as having an actual icon in the game, but definitely quicker than searching on Google every time.

I like the way that you can filter what comes up on your map through the map menu. The way the skyshards appear black when you are close, and turn white when collected but you can toggle them on and off in the filter is nice.

If the treasure maps and surveys worked this way (in that they only appear black when you have the related survey/treasure map), then when collected they go white, I think this would be a great addition.

I also agree with you Bammlschwamml, the problems arise from lack if inventory space. Personally I'd be happy with further pack merchant upgrades to increase storage capacity, even if the price gets ridiculously huge by doubling the price each time up to a maximum of 500 inventory space (which would cost an absolute fortune in gold), I think people would still do it.

For Treasure Maps, it could be that once you dig up a treasure map on your account, the location is revealed for you in the future. It could be part of an achievement to dig up most/all the treasure maps in the basegame for a cool title or reward or whatever.

That wouldn't work as well for surveys, since you can't just buy them, so the RNG could leave you without Glenumbra Enchanter Survey #11 for years. : p Maybe they could get a map marker at max crafting level, or it could be added to an existing crafting passive. For example, the research passives, which don't have use for maxed out crafters. (I know, the skill points ...)

Just working out what I mean:

    70 400 Gold - 400 Gold Total
    80 2,000 Gold - 2,400 Gold Total
    90 5,900 Gold - 8,300 Gold Total
    100 11,000 Gold - 19,300 Gold Total
    110 19,200 Gold - 38,500 Gold Total

    130 46,000 Gold - 115,200 Gold Total
    140 64,500 Gold - 179,700 Gold Total

So continuing the current polynomial trend:
    150 84,400 Gold - 264,100 Gold Total

I am on PC, but I think our main advantage is the map that shows us exactly where the survey is. I have a different toon who stores each type of survey. I don't do any until I have at least 40 saved up in the same location, then I do all of them at once. If you do 1 survey at a time it doesn't matter if you are on PC or console, it takes time. If you do 40+ at a time it is much more efficient, and you only have to do a stack every few weeks.
