Sea Silver Chain - Jewelry Survey in any zone.

Am I to understand that:

Can only do the jewelry writ once a day
Have a chance to get a jewelry survey when turning in a writ
Have a chance to get the lead when uncovering the survey

The jewelry writs are once per character per day. The more characters you have, the more surveys (and therefore the more attempts at the lead) you can get per day.

It's really strange. I got it on each account - PC NA and EU, three accounts. It dropped from the daily jewerly writs on my mains not long after the mythic was available in game.

Sad thing - I have zero use for it personally.

On PC NA, it took me 3 weeks of daily jewel writs on 5 characters before I got it. I think I received something like 8 or 9 surveys in that time.

It's a terrible design for a lead to have two layers of RNG AND a time gate.

Yea....I've ran around high isle with a speedy vampire getting clams for hours...no lead. I think I'll give up on this one for now.

I sometimes get a survey from the tales of tribute coffers. This helps a bit to increase the chance.

Lols you seem to have Filer Ools ear.

I might look at which lead I want the most and ask for that on the forums to see if it works for me.

Also, not sure if you have this yet, Display Leads addon is a useful tool. I highly recommend it

I'm not messing with IA personally.... but if there was a lead I was desperate for (hasn't happened yet), I'd look whenever @Maitsukas posts, and just check. Not sure I'd be very good at even the first level, but I might get enough currency to get a lead....

This is strictly anecdotal, but it seems to me the best way to collect multi-part antiquities is to start with the lead that is hardest / most time consuming to grind (e.g. writs) and end with the easiest ones (e.g. 'covenant mobs' or 'alchemy nodes').

It does still drop from surveys - I filled a jc survey on my baby account on PC EU yesterday and got the lead. I don't want the mythic, and it's dollars to donuts if I'll have my girl there at master level before it expires - but it does drop....

Yet another month passes and I have only had 3 new surveys drop with no lead. Really, this RNG time gated mechanic is mind blowing.
